Hi all, I collect Swords/knives on stamps and would like some help.... what does the hand holding dagger mean in the heraldic design of Ireland Scott 65? Thanks in advance for your help,
Moderator's Note: The original thread title cited Ireland, Sc69, but as pointed out subsequently by another member, that stamp is not one with the "sword in hand" design. Consequently, the thread title has been changed to indicate Sc65, which is the lowest value in the definitive set with the design described. An image has been added below.

I think you have made a mistake, Sc69 are the arms. The "Sword of Light" is Scott design type A1 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cla%C3%ADomh_SolaisHope that helps.

I would suspect that the double blade sword shown above is really a "fantasy" sword that would be found in a video game. I may err but as a sword fancier, I see little in the way of usefulness.Somewhat like fighting with an oversized tuning fork. It would not resist blows very long A miniature copy of the "sword of light" Given the Roman influence, it closely resembles a legionnaire's Gladius sword
