Here's another parcel post half stamp, an Italian stamp that was issued with this overprint in 1917. There is a second overprint type extant but it is valued considerably higher. The Scott catalogue says that most used halves seen are the right half, but this one came from the left half. Yay, but still minimum catalogue value. Ryan

British Administration during WWIIEritrea, Ethiopia and Italian Somaliland formed Italian East Africa on 1 June 1936. Stamps were issued on 7 February 1938 and until 1941. After British forces occupied Eritrea and the other Italian colonies during World War II, British postage stamps overprinted M.E.F. (Middle East Forces) were used in Eritrea (and other areas) during 1942. M1 & M2 M3 & M4 M5 These were issued in 2 sets distinguishable by the shape of the M.E.F. An example of the scarcer Type M2 M8a with M2a Type These stamps were also used in the United Kingdom with official sanction, from the summer of 1950 onwards, and with U.K. postmarks are worth considerably less. Stamp issued in 1950, Scott #25. I found a brief description of Eritrea from this period: “In 1949 it became a British protectorate, the UN having rejected by one vote a trusteeship to Italy until independence. In 1952 Eritrea was officially handed over to Ethiopia, formally as a federated country, causing the beginning of the exodus of the Italian community from Eritrea.” The postal cancellation includes the Italian term "vaglia" which is translated as "money order" Did the postal cancellations from this period (July 16, 1952) use the names in Italian or is it a fake cancellation?
