7k postal stationery envelope from St Petersburg, city-post branch office #4 (numeral cancellation) to Sergievskii Posad, receiving datestamp of the following day - interesting type with posthorns at the base. Red private wax seal on the back.
Wow! what a beautiful St Petersburg strike. I adore those cancels.

October 23rd, Postmarked 1911 in Jersey Shore Pa. -The Hotel Dunkle
The Hotel Dunkle. I have NEVER seen this particular card before as I have with the others. I bought it on the spot! This building was directly across the street from my Great Grandparents house in Jersey Shore, Pa! It is also where I was immunized for school. Dr. Dunkle was an "old timey" type doctor and his word was gospel! lol I once had a an infected finger (from a fish hook incident) that needed lanced; I was scared that it was going to hurt- Dr. Dunkle, without missing a beat, promptly stomped down on my foot while he jabbed me to drain it. He was correct- I didn't feel my finger at all...just my foot... He quipped "See, I told you it wouldn't be that bad !"
Hotel Dunkle, Jersey Shore, Pa.
Obverse:
Reverse: Stamp is, I suspect a Scott #374 since it's usage is so late in 1911 but it is possible it could be a #357 on "blue-paper" {watermark 190} but the historic value on piece is worth way more (to me) than any intrinsic or philatelic value it may have plus, the "blue-paper" issues are common enough that another copy can be easily obtained already certified.
The machine cancel n this card was made by a machine sold by the Doremus Company - Doremus Type E
The original building:
How it looked in the 1990's before it was razed and an Arby's built ontop.:

October 23rd, 1926 Attached on the cover a rectangular label, on cream paper, perfed and bearing a large red “P”. It is unclear what the letter stands for. On the back of the cover a form (Avid de Reception?) appears to have been attached – presumably detached upon receipt.
Intriguing etiquette Vasia. Yes, the Advice de Reception card, would have been franked by the sender and attached by his/her PO. When the correspondence was in the hands of the receiver, the card removed, and sent back to the sender (pre franked as mentioned) , as receipt it reached its destination.

Attached on the cover a rectangular label, on cream paper, perfed and bearing a large red “P”. It is unclear what the letter stands for.
"P" The "askphil" glossary reveals no solution in its reference to "P" P: 1: Scott Catalog number prefix for Newspaper. 2: proof. 3: auction term for Poor quality. 4: international postal code for Portugal. 5: pre-adhesive postmark; Paris (France), Pennsylvania (USA), Philadelphia, (Penn.) Poland, Prague (Bohemia), 6: (With no country name, with value and Queen's cameo) Great Britain. 7: with eagle and United States of America: Kentucky Custom House revenue, seal. 8: perforation for Canal Zone on U.S. stamps, perforator was formally a Panama Railroad perforator with "rPr" modified to a "P." 9: Plattendruck: (Ger.) flat plate printing 10: papier (Ger.) paper 11: P, Pt, Pta, Ptas, Pts abbreviations for Peseta(s). 12: (Ger.) Pfennig, unit of currency. 13: Pula: currency unit in Botswana 14: Punt: currency unit in Ireland 15: Peso, currency unit in Argentina, Chile, Cuba, Dominican republic, Mexico, Philippines, Uruguay. 16: The Philatelist (Great Britain). 17: (With star and crescent in circle) Straits Settlements, Malaya overprint for Perak. 18: with Arabic between; overprint on British stamps for official. 19: with crescent and star in oval, overprint on Straits for Perak. 20: Police, South Australia official overprint, 1868-74. 21: Colombia-Scadta consular overprint for being sold in Panama, 1921-23. 22. in oval, paid (British, Ger.). 23. Preussen; found on letters from Russia to France, followed by a number which refers to the frontier office, 1830-69. 24. Ashton-Potter prefix used in front of the plate number in its stamp production. 25. in a box, plate block. This would make your eyes water.........$125,000 (Lot 1256) Russia Postal History Postmarks and Labels stampauctionnetwork.com/x/x061463.cfm

Just after 1 a.m. here on Saturday the 25th, so I know this is an hour late. But here goes. Was tossing and turning (face still hurts from dental surgery a week ago) so rather than disturb the missus, I got up and ended up searching through a box of covers I need to sort and catalogue. Found this at the bottom. United Nations FDC dated Oct 24 1951 [BROKEN IMAGE LINK(S) REMOVED]

I had lots of dental surgery and understand the pain, I found that taking Tylenol and a Advil together helped.

Inflation-period cover sent as printed matter from Moscow to Oakland, California. Franked at 9R (90.000R) with 3x3k perf Arms, revalued 100x. For comparison, the international letter rate as of 18/10 is 75R. [About the 9R rate, see the “printed matter” of Tarasoff sent on 30/9/1922 from Archangelsk to the US – Rossica Journal 86/87, pp 69-70]. Sent from the Russian League of Esperantists – see label.

October 30th, 1903 Mr. J.H. Tilton mailed from Newbury Vermont. It handsomely wears a US Scott #301 E.K.U. is 1/17/03 so this stamp has only been use for 9 months when this was applied to this cover and sent out. Amazing isn't it when you stop and think about it for a minute!
