Leicestershire and Yeovil, Somerset, England Yay! I was born in Yeovil, first time I have seen this postmark in 15 years of collecting. It became a centre for the glove making industry. (My mother was a glovemaker in fine tradition) During the Middle Ages the population of the town suffered from the Black Death and several serious fires. In the 20th century it developed into a centre of the aircraft and defence industries, which made it a target for bombing in the Second World War, Our home was bombed in WW2, and we had to move. We border Dorset, the county with the earliest known image of Christ. (He is pictured as pudgy little boy with curly blonde hair) In later eons, Christ was portrayed with more masculine features, and his visage was modelled after Zeus (Jupiter) (Long flowing hair and a beard) Zeus may have been a suitable adaption, Zeus' mother Rhea, married her brother, Cronus, who promptly ate 5 of Zeus' siblings, before Rhea managed to hide Zeus, and gave Cronus a Rock bathed in swaddling clothes, which he ate as well. Zeus became a little peeved and overthrew Cronus, banishing him to the underworld (hell?) (not before getting Cronus to disgorge the 5 siblings, and the rock, for good measure)

NOVEMBER 1st 1878 Strong's Bank successor to First National Bank Check. Really not a cover obviously but it's neat and dated so I think it worth posting here.

NOVEMBER 3rd 1881, Strong's Bank successor to First National Bank Check. EDIT: A Hundred and Eighty-two dollars & Forty-two cents in those days was a pretty large "knot" just to be toting around don't you think?

November 3rd, 1929
Picture postcard (view of Kazan cathedral) from Leningrad to Nassau, Bahamas, British West Indies. Received in Nassau 27/11/1929 and probably forwarded to a different address. Franked at a 2k printed matter rate (notice the crossing-out of the postal card notation and the handwriting) with 2x 1k “Large Head” stamps.
Mr. McFarlan was a Stamp Collector. He was a member of the Pottstown Y.M.C.A stamp club and must have visited the British West Indies regularly. Here is some from the Pottstown Mercury Paper, Pennsylvania 1935 "Over 40 members and friends of the Pottstown Y. M. C. A. stamp club heard William M. McFarlan, Downingtown, tell of his recent travels in the British West Indies badly damaged. McFarlan’s tour included Bermuda, Nevis, Mont Serrat, St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Vincent and Trinidad. Remarks were made by Donald Knauer and Harold Rohrbach, past presidents; S. F. Jenkins and John M. Johnson. Out-of-town guests included Mr. "

I saw an exhibit online somewhere regarding German hyperinflation stamps - it made the point that inflation was so rapid it made it not only impractical to use old low-value stamps, but impossible to do so. By the time you finally affixed enough stamps to pay the rate, the envelope got heavier and jumped up to the next weight class. Once you affixed all of the extra stamps needed to pay for the extra weight, the weight jumped up to the next weight class again! Ryan

November 7th, 1916
Postal card from Saburovo / Сабурово to Neuchatel, Switzerland, 22/12/1916. The non-standard registration label is imperf, on white paper, with a black line at upper edge, a heavy black border on the other 3 sides and a handwritten registration number + a handwritten “R”. It resembles the labels used on package postal forms, in both form and in the fact that it bears the placename in both Cyrillic and Latin. Franked at 13k (1k short) with the addition of a 10k perf Arms. C.d.s of ST.SABUROVO / RYAZ.-YRAL.ZH.D (Robinson 1025.1, rating D). Censored in Petrograd.
