Got it! One of the stamps that I, a) covet the most and, b) I can afford... Picked this jewel up last night. Not the greatest copy but you won't hear me complaining! An otherwise nice specimen was botched early on by that errant downward cut into the stamp in the upper left corner and the stamp has a crease. On the upside it's not pen cancelled and though a little dicey in that upper left corner not terrible margins. For what I paid for this jewel - about 15% of CV - I couldn't be happier!

Very nice Ron. I think most USA collectors would not think there collection is complete if it is missing this stamp. I for one do. I am still waiting to be able to get one. One day I will though.

Carabop, as silly as this is going to sound I actually do it - I save my pocket change. I have a plastic half-gallon paint bucket and every day I drop my spare change into the bucket. Over time the contents of that change bucket picks up something nice. Though I didn't take that approach with this stamp I know for a fact that bucket holds well over $100 - that, my friend, is a silly yet effective approach to picking up things one might not otherwise be able to add to a collection. I'll get that $1 Columbian and/or Cattle in Snowstorm and I'll do it a few coins at a time.

That is a very good approach. I have the problem of buy now pay later and sometimes I can get in over my head if I am not careful so your approach would be much better. It is the bad habit of wanting it now once I see a stamp I want/like.

I know this is an old post but I am new to this forum but I just need to say how I envy you. I collected stamps as a kid and moved to baseball cards and now I am back to stamp collecting. It was always a dream of my brother and I to get US #1 and #2 along with all of the Columbians. One day I will but with a daughter in college and a son going in 2 years it may take a while. But if I had the chance to get one at 15% of cv I would probably get it. Thanks for sharing. Robert
