Maldive Coat of Arms Map of The Maldives The Maldives is a tropical nation in the Indian Ocean composed of 26 ring-shaped atolls, which are made up of more than 1,000 coral islands. Maldives is one of the world's most geographically dispersed countries, as well as the smallest Asian country by both land area and population, with a little over 393,500 inhabitants. A republic from 1 January 1953, but reverted to a sultanate in 1954. Became independent on 26 July 1965 and left the British Commonwealth, but was re-admitted as an Associate Member on 9 July 1982. 1906. 100 cents = 1 rupee. 1951. 100 larees = 1 rupee. Up to the year 1980, the stamps were certainly collectible and numbered about 800. Since that time they have, like so many other countries, gone on a printing spree of Disney, Elvis, famous actors and as of 2016 there are now about 5000! An area of opposites Secluded beaches & bustling Male capital SG 14a & 18a - Minaret, Juma Mosque, Male Next GVI Issue

One of my few Maldivian items - inside the cover also contains some of the same in mint stamps. Interested in your opinion please falschungOpinion? - Well, quite the find to see the full set on a cover - SG 2014 notes a used set has a CV of about 110£ on its own - I doubt that these are forgeries like the heavily forged Ceylon overprints. - Cannot tell if they are the upright or sideways watermark but that really only makes a difference with the 5c - SG says the upright is mauve & the sideways is claret and 3X CV - The date stamp is unusually late, "1950" the new issue came out with new currency in Dec. 1950 - These were issued redrawn in 1933 from 1909 in new colors (reduced to 18x21.5 mm). Perf 15x 14. - The cancel "appears" genuine, it seems the "V" is slightly higher and the "E" is curved and the top horizontal is further from the center as shown below. - The "N" of Islands is very narrow and generally is hard to distinguish. - The "L & A" of Islands are joined together - The "Highness" would probably refer to Abdul Majeed Didi, Sultan of the Maldives (1945-1952), so that seems appropriate. Note that this is only an opinion based on the picture.

Just hard to believe how those 5 years have flown by.
My last visit to Maldives was in 2008 - doubt if I will get back there again.
