Lovely Steve. Did you notice the White strip in the Sharjah Flag ? Trucial States = Truce States. In the early years the Gulf of Oman Coast was known as the Pirate Coast 7 emirates came to a truce with great Britain regarding attacks. All emirates flags have a white component, indicating that agreement, excepting Fujairah (Fujeira)

The Trucial States On January 7, 1961 the seven Sheikdoms of Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaima and Umm al-Qiwain were united into a political entity, The Trucial States, Their subjects could obtain British passport and entry into the Sheikdoms, except in the Arab States, was given to the British consular representatives throughout the world. A set of eleven postage stamps and one aerogramme were commissioned by the British Post Office and issued on January 7th, the date the union was recognized. The seven lower values of the set and aerogramme picture seven palm trees representing the seven sheikdoms and are perfed 15 x 14. The four high values show an Arab dhow at sail and are perf. 13 x 12.5 The set was designed by M. Coaman and M.C Farrar-Bell, and printed in London by Thomas De La Rue & Company. The stamps and aerogramme were only used in Dubai, as none of the other states had a post office. The set is listed in catalogs under the issues of the British Empire and can be found mint with little difficulty. Author : Mr R Howard Courtney. The designs of the only set issued by the Trucial States The Seven Palms represent the 7 Sheikdoms. And an Arab Dhow.

1970 10th July Football world championships Franz Bechenbauer Jules Rimet Cup Mexico Designer : Samir Ghantous Michel Block 65A (Variety with grey margin) Well, 2 out of 6 ain't bad. Italy qualified for the 1970 World Cup, so did West Germany. The United Kingdom doesn't enter the World Cup, they're represented by the 4 separate home countries (England did qualify). France didn't qualify, United States didn't qualify, and Lebanon?!? They didn't even enter any of the qualification stages for the 1970 World Cup, but I guess if the stamp designer is Lebanese, he can put his flag at the top of the stack. ha ha Ryan

Exceptional, Ryan I didn't bother looking at that, I have for years tried to isolate just whom Samir Ghantous was, with no luck, that name is on a lot of the Sand Dunes. I wonder if he was linked to Clive Feigenbaum. Some were printed if I recal by Bruder Rosenbaum as well (Austrian now defunct) Thanks for your quick eye, this is worth looking into, perhaps his design was for the upcoming event without knowledge of the qualifiers.

James, Are your spectacles in for repair? Sharjah Roses? I smell a mistake. There is a dedicated board for Khor Fakkan. Thanks for the fish. PS: In my 7th year searching for the "Stanley Gibbons" Rose on a stamp. I am sure it exists somewhere.

Mmmm.......Good Tucker ! (Kick diabetes in the butt) Some members know I cycle 80 Km a week, there's the exercise out of the way. My diet "2 x 5" diet, fast two days (non contiguous, any 2 days out of seven, Monday and Friday say) , eat what you like for 5 on your fast day you are allowed ? calories ( I forget, I have been on it for a long time, I eat vegetables) That is enough for two light meals in 24 hours. (even a bit of chook if you like) The other 5 days , eat what you like .
