Today I purchased the Yugoslavia section pages from Scott 2020. I've had this Yugo collection in a Specialty binder untouched for 20 years or so. It should be interesting getting up to date. Collection ends at 1955. 2001 SCV was $546. Have not inventoried Yugoslavia yet though Croatia, Serbia etc and others have been done. Do expect to keep that Country in WW of which I have lots of classic stamps and earlier ones up to the 1960s. So many wars !! and History..... René

Still busy with house guest refugees from the cold (Michigan) trying to catch a few Florida rays of sunshine, so not much time for stamps, but I did have a few nice Auction lots arrive from Denmark. All three are modern issues to help fill some of the cavernous post 2000 gaps in my Faroes, Aland and Austria collections. Most of you know that besides my Ireland & Bermuda, Scandinavia is a major collecting interest along with a few others like Austria and Japan. And René renden surprised me with a selection of classic Ireland! Thanks so much, my very generous friend! What a guy! I’ll be back and more active soon.

Hey everyone, I just got back from a trip to the UK to visit my daughter and was able to sneak in a little stamping time. Made it to the British Library to see the collections they have on view - really neat but I was sad that only 1/2 the Tapling collection is on display right now. I also made the pilgrimage to Stanley Gibbons but didn't bite on a new British Empire catalogue. However, when I was in an antique shop in Margate I picked up an old 'how to' book on Stamp Collecting from 1968 which has been a very fun read. Now I'm back at home and scouting out club meetings in Victoria. Time to find the others.... Mark

Found some time to work on Danish stamps this evening before bed. I am mounting Queen Margrethe II definitives from the 80s on Steiner pages right now. Nice to see the page filling up nicely.

Continuing to work on Denmark today. I made a little spreadsheet for myself out of the Scott Catalogue so that I could better sort Danish numeral and wavy line definitives. I used google sheets and it is very basic but it definitely helps to sort through a pile of stamps on my desk vs. going back and forth in the Scott Catalogue. If anyone would like a copy of it, perhaps expand it into something more detailed on your own, let me know and I would be happy to email it to you.

Will continue work on Yugoslavia these coming days and try to limit to the after war period (as Steiner pages are concerned) - A little bit of humility as I thought I had more stamps than that.......they were "dups" Will try to fill some holes as we go and any interested member is welcome to participate - just go on the thread Jugoslavia (Yugoslavia stamps) - René

I have updated my want lists. I'd hate to buy 125 stamps that I already have, like I did a few months ago. Also sorting through the stamps I just received in the past week. Once Xavier's ( hrdoktorx) give-away has ended, I'll have one too. Germany & Iceland are the stamps being thrust out the door here!

Went to the Stamp Fair in Southampton today and filled a few gaps in my British Guiana collection, sadly no Guyana, saw a couple of Guyana surcharges and got excited but after checking my catalogue I already had them.

I worked on Greece this evening and most of the weekend and will try to stay with Greece for the foreseeable future. I have a lot of Greek stamps that really need sorting and mounting as well as a collection I bought almost a year ago to go through and combine with what I already have.

Am I the only one that starts looking to get rid of stuff, only to re-ignite an interest that I have had shelved for a few years. This causes me to buy more stamps, and still not get rid of anything. LOL.

I've been working on Hungary lately. I love the classics - and even more so finding stamps of Hungary postmarked in places that are now in countries like Romania, Austria, Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Slovenia, made possible by the severe Hungarian territorial losses following WW1.
The chart shows Hungary today (rose) and lost territories in green. Finding Hungarian stamps used outside of present day Hungarian borders is an interesting study - recommended! For the Hungarian stamps after 1950, well, that's not such a joy, is it? Thousands and thousands of CTO stamps, in my opinion it is: . So my focus is on finding postally used copies. I will rather prefer a beaten up but postally used stamp than CTO. Even so I believe less than half of the stamps in my album 1950-65 is postally used. The album page above has surprisingly many postally used stamps, so that's the challenge for the future - replace all remaining CTOs with stamps that did what they were supposed to do. Stay stampy all

I agree with you on that, Jon ( blaamand)! I prefer mint copies, unless they have excellent cancels, but Hungary still to this day sells mint from 1960 on! I bought a pile of them, but it will cost even more to mount them as most are very large in size, so they are still in their packages. Thanks to renden, I do have a lot of the earlier stamps. But I'll just get what I need in (hopefully postally) used condition. I didn't realize just how big Hungary was - with a sea coast too!

I agree with you blaamand. My Hungary collection is mounted on Steinar pages (don't like them). I will remount them on Ekker style pages, but I don't think I will manage that this year, to much other things to sort out. And now the cycling season (bicycling) soon start with less time for stamps.

brightonpete - yes, Hungary really has plenty of large format stamps! Mounting this on Steiner pages will take quite a number of pages. Personally I am more worried about the time it will take to mount them on album pages. So, in order to save time, I simply stick all the modern stuff, from 1940 onwards, on Vario pages, huge timesaver! I do not mind having a mix of proper album pages and vario pages, they all go in the same album. These stamps are not that interesting anyway, so canæt be bothered with spending days and days for mounting them nicely on album pages, but thats just me. Indeed, not many are aware of huge Hungary actually was, and how severly it was reduced after WW1. And difficult for most today to visualize that landlocked Austria and Hungary once had a navy I forgot to mention Croatia in my previous post - Hungary/Austria had access to the sea in those days at the coast of present day Croatia. Wich opens for yet another interesting part of postal history - Marine cancellation on Austrian stamps - Austricher Lloyd!

In agreement with Torbjorn @ tobben63 and Jon @ blaamand - too many stamps - I do put them in Vario pages or give them away and this is not only a Hungary problem as many Countries fall in the same category of CTOs ++++Romania, Bulgaria to name a few René p.s. Just finished the interesting portion of Jugoslavia inventory or Yugoslavia - CTOs will be treated as mentioned

Not really that much today, but I did make two "table of contents" pages for Scott 2009 Vol 1 & 2 pdf's, so I can get to what I want quicker. Using Find to search for what I want presents too many options. This makes it much easier. Just 4 more to go!
I did try to start on more USA album pages, but that was put aside for other stuff to do.
