As a collector of maps on stamps I have decided to seek out stamps with maps related to the oil industry. I found and added this Iraqi issue to my topical collection. With wars, new countries and oil industry changes it is interesting to observe change. This 1976 Iraq oil industry issue is revealing. It depicts an oil rich nation with strong pipeline presence. Have times changed since 2003. Anybody know of any other issues combing maps and oil?

Only the tip of the iceberg.Of note only one large queen,a mint copy I got reasonably cheap.a couple five hole perfs, numerous coil pairs, the pride of the bunch a used block of six Canada #111.The last used block I needed to complete the admirals.Liberia and Bolivia additions as well. poems by Nahum Tate

I've yet to actually start working on Bolivia but a recent collection purchase includes numerous copies of early issues, some quite pricey. My fall-winter is going to be interesting.

firstfrog2013 - That's a sweet selection indeed, congrats Is that a block (or pair) of $1 Admiral ? Except for hanging on this forum, it's been no stamping whatsoever for me lately, enjoying beautiful summer weather at our 'hideout by the sea'.

blaaamand Yes it is a used block. They came as a whole lot but I was only after the #111. I had put in a request with a major Canadian dealer for the used block but even they had none.A most difficult block to find.I considered buying a mint block but man-0-man the price. The other three cent block is the 12 X 8 perf another tuff one at best.Wish I had time to scope them now but alas work calls Again!!

FF, I have a 12x8 single-use on a 1931 cover. It is one of the very few Canadian stamps NOT priced on cover in Unitrade. Is it scarce?

Nothing done with any of my stamps today, but... I did join a stamp club. The Trenton Stamp Club (TSC), in Trenton meets the 1st & 3rd Wednesday every month. So I popped in to see what was up & figured I might as well join. They apparently have around 40 members, 41 now with me. Seems mostly a social night out to me, but they do have a yearly dinner, and a stamp show, which will be on November 10th this year. Plus a number travel around to other stamp clubs, such as the Cobourg Stamps Club which meets on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month, except just one in the summer. How convenient! Some members off the TSC are also members of the Cobourg club. I might join theirs as well!
It's the first local club I've ever been a member of!

Yesterday I tackled a Romania collection on Scott Specialty album pages acquired years go which I'd plan to integrate into my VERY old Romania collection (of which the pages were from my high school days in the 1970's when to save money I used lined notebook paper....ugh!) It's always relaxing to remount reorganize and re-sort stamps...some of the pages I had not even looked at for many years! Here's a messy desktop attesting to my endeavors:

Want a convenient accessory for Messville? Try a $5 metal ironing board from a garage sale, strip off the padding and cover down to bare metal. It will HOLD 3 open catalogs or 3 open albums quite comfortably. With a little carpentry, you can make one fold down from the wall.

My old board from my military days of ironing my uniform hasn't been used in years! Some years ago we had switched to combat dress (not ironable unless in Army!), which saved time & hassle. Thanks for that, doug630!

I have a U-shaped setup. I have an L-desk and then I added a plywood 6 ft long section resting on part of the desk and a 3 drawer cabinet to make the U. I try to keep everything neat.

Again, not much today. It was finally a beautiful day, so I stepped out & logged 23,362 steps... so far. Not many more for the day. The last logged walk was a trip to the Post Office again. I thought that perhaps my Postbeeld order was in. It wasn't when I checked earlier. And there it was. But sheesh... I wondered what else could they have possibly sent. I ordered 5 small, single stamps & look at what they sent it in! One humungous cardboard package! They just billed me €16, but I'm sure it cost more to send that thing across the pond! That one covered stamp is a beaut, but you'll have to wait to see it in the "Postmark Calendar" thread on the day it was posted! Only a few months away...

As time permitted, spent the last few days finishing up my article for the next Forum Newsletter. Was pleasantly surprised when an APS Stamp Store purchase I had forgotten about arrived in today's mail.

Getting ready to do my Egypt stamps as part of my WW collection, but before that I have a few personal Canada pages to complete using Albumgen. I thought I would stop at 1940 but find interesting stuff and will goo up to 1951. The rest are in my Scott Universal Albums and my father's Lindner albums. It is nice to be able to put what you want on a page and not be at the mercy of a pre-printed page (Album or not), and include the varieties you own or plan to own.

I spent time mounting St Lucia stamps. Once I got to around 1980, just cut the Scott pages to 8½x11, 3 hole punched them, put them in the binder. Many are the later ones are the large Disney issues so not going to waste time and money mounting them.

Please share your pages for us to see Hi Blaamand !I did put some pages under New Brunswick (Province) and Canada but I have to get my pages reduced with the help of Nelson L. in order to have a better image resolution. My Software to reduce does not do the trick from my part so either get a new scanner or new software.......I am thinking about it. Cheers ! René

Good evening from South-Central Africa !!! I am finally here after a very long tiring 18 hours trip, due to high season demand and limited seats i had to take a longer route than the usual .
I flew from Beirut to Paris (4h40min flight) then i had to RUN across the airport to catch my next plane to Kenya (8hours), once in Kenya i spent one hour at the airport and i took my third final plane to Zambia(3 hours) .
It is good to be back on African soil, it feels right !!! I always thought Ghana (where i worked before) was the most beautiful country in Africa, ohhh oh wait until you see Zambia !! No Comparison !!
This week will be mainly for relaxing and doing some minor work, but starting next week it is going to be totally hectic during weekdays !! This week am going on a car trip across the country side and maybe Victoria falls over the weekend .
I did not pack anything stamps related with me since am going back home in August for a short visit, i will have more space in my luggage to pack some empty stock books, accessories and 3 or 4 packages that should arrive by that time .

Where is Zambia.....from a Canadian perspective......GOOGLE.......... Happy you are "happy" R Zambia, in southern Africa, is a landlocked country of rugged terrain and diverse wildlife, with many parks and safari areas. On its border with Zimbabwe is famed Victoria Falls – indigenously called Mosi-oa-Tunya, or "Smoke That Thunders” – plunging a misty 108m into narrow Batoka Gorge. Spanning the Zambezi River just below the falls is Victoria Falls Bridge, a spectacular viewpoint. To tell you frankly: not ready to travel to South Africa....would need a guide......but members from that Geo Area seem great !! R

I received my latest auction lot in the mail yesterday & finally took a peek behind this morning - 2 nice looking Admiral's. Unfortunately I was unable to pipe them aboard, as I lost my bos'n call, before I even left the ship! I could only salute them aboard. Oh well, just scant hints of hinges on their backsides. Here is a quick scan of these beauts...

So I put in bids for 4 lots in the All Nations auction today. Lost all of them!
Oh well, more money for something else, like a new phone, laptop, TV, house... this list just doesn't stop!
