This past week, I received 10 more Vario-G binders/dust cases and more mounts. The nice thing about ordering mounts from Global Stamps is that if you order $25 or more, you get free priority mail shipping so always get in 2 days. I would have to order a lot more from places like amosadvantage, subway, etc. and sometimes they are out of stock. If you order 20 or more packs, you can usually get a better deal elsewhere but I like the get it when you need it. I mostly finished mounting a recent purchase of stamps from Antigua up through 1980 or so. However. I do not like Disney issues. If there was a pivotal moment it was in the late 70's where it seemed Disney became a primary topic for a lot of countries. The US has gone pop culture too. Now, on the positive side, these stamps are large, colorful, and high quality. This is in contrast to the non-engraved US issues.

If you don't mind my asking, did you also get the Vario binders from them, too? I didn't know about the shipping deal with Global. I'm in California, and so the shipping from places like Subway, being distance-based, can add up fast.

One week has passed and i am already missing my stamps Immensely!! Especially when i am having trouble sleeping, sorting some stamps was always the best solution !!
The good news is that Paypal is available down here ( was not available in Lebanon, I was using my fiancée's Ebay Canadian account ) , So I decided to do a Test order from Ebay to see if the package will arrive on time and safely to the specific location I provided.
Originally the plan was to order something very cheap just in case, Well that did not happen !! I ended up ordering something a bit expensive , my first long awaited for pre 1935 Graf Zeppelin stamp !!
hmmm which country did Bombadil chose for his first Zeppelin ?? Well lets all pray that I receive it soon

Bombadil I feel for you, down in Zambia almost alone, at least without your 'small friends'. Hope you get some stamps soon! I know exactly how it is being seperated from my loved ones..... In my present job situation offshore (the past 3 months) I have not been able to touch my stamps at all. I'm sharing a very small 2-man cabin with a 'normal person' (read: unstampy person) - so it's been no way I can occupy the tiny desk between our beds with my stamps. And I am granted no time for stamping while at home either, what a missery! All my stamping-activities the past months have been on my PC - either making custom album pages, checking the marketplace.....or hanging on this forum.

Thanks Rene - I'm hanging in here! On the positive side of not being able to work the thongs - I'm getting lots of time to look around for "special stuff" on the marketplace, which is often hard to find, at least within my budget. Found a couple of nice forerunners the past days

While not stamping this conversation has put a big grin on my face this morning because of the inadvertant misuse of words in the English language. It is not easy for us natives so when it is your third or fourth language it is very difficult. Please do not get offended with my explanations, smile and call me a pedant.
renden, 'aloud' is used 'to speak aloud' old usage, what you needed was 'allowed' and 'dogs baying at the moon' the thought of you howling at the stamp dealers stock rather than buying it made me laugh.
blamand 'thongs' is also a name for a skimpy underwear G-string, perhaps tongs.
be well all

Coming back to the thread, I have been doing inventory of nice Netherland Antilles MNH stamps that I won from a Stampsmarter give-away, while reading Blaamand's search for forerunners. In this part of the world a forerunner can also mean a Toyota SUV vehicle...hahahhahah René

Things are always in flux.
I moved the military covers over to their own thread this morning. I have a few of them & didn't want to overwhelm any other thread with them. It makes it easier to have like items in one thread anyway. They'll all be there eventually!

I continue to work on remounting a collection I purchased. Finished up with Falkland Islands and some dependencies but do not have many of either of these. More stamp mounts arrived yesterday.

Just some boring work for a while. I am finally re-vamping my Luxembourg spreadsheet, to something to what blaamand (Jon) posted in the Luxembourg stamps thread. (It looks great!) So I am moving all stamps to one sheet, instead of many & having a right fancy report page at the front. This will take a while though... Good thing I am retired!

I spent more time creating pages for Fiji and mounting stamps. While doing this, I have been listening to youtube videos on WWII Pacific battles such as Coral Sea and Leyte Gulf.

angora, I hope you remembered my little tip. When buying mounts always check for larger lots often offered on ebay.A typical large lot will have maybe ten or more different sizes. This is a great way to get a good supply of assorted sizes at discount prices. When I find myself getting low it's a saved search away to bid on 'em.
I just finished an ebook "Condition Red" destroyer action in the South Pacific not as good as a video but good read none the less. After touring the Sullivans (DD) in Buffalo last year I have whole new respect for life aboard such a small vessel in time of turmoil.

Well, haven't had time for much recently, with work obligations overshadowing all.
I bought some stamps last weekend at the big, outdoor market, and they are all 19th Century, along the lines of what I have posted previously. I also got an album page of early Japan stamps, which I have now soaked, and will probably remove from drying/flattening to sort this weekend. Nothing of high CV as far as I could see, although I did find one Offices in China overprint, which I suspect was missed by the dealer.
I need to make another post on the "Next Great Adventure" thread, which I will try to do this weekend.

I had looked in the past but felt I would get sizes I did not need or want. Rather than dealing with hinges, I use clear mounts in certain sizes by cutting split back mounts in half (sizes 57 to 80 or so) so not abundant in bulk lots.

I have put together a small group of souvenir sheets and other assorted stamps for pricing, scanning and then posting for sale on auction sites. Trying to get rid of some of the pieces that no longer fit in with my present collecting parameters.

Okay i think i need to put a leash on myself !! I am buying stamps online more than i should and more than i can afford at this point !!
The good thing is that packages are pilling up back home in Lebanon, there is already 5 packages waiting and another 4 that should arrive by the time i visit. Ohhh yes and two other packages from TSF members
I went overboard with some interesting acquisitions, paying way more than my usual budget but i promise that they are worth every penny !!
I can't wait to bring back everything with me and start posting again.
