Two Barcelona cartoons by Francesc Ibáñez. "Zipi y Zape" (two "terrible twins") and "Mortadelo y Filemón, agencia de información". Both originated on te 1950-1960's. The later, is a satyre of james Bond films as has been cpublished up to day, showing important events. Olympics, World Soccer Championships...
"Mortadelo", long as a mortadela (italian salami), changes continuously his appearance and they use a number of "curious engines" coming from the mind od "Profesor Bacterio" (an homage to James Bond's "Q").

The World's Greatest Superheroes - Marvel! I have actually owned most of the comics shown here at least once in my life. I have been reading Marvel comics for about 45 years now. I have sold my entire collection 4 times in my life, and started over again later each time. LOL.

I am enjoying this thread, especially the Mickey Mouse series posted by ( salentin) One question though, not being familiar with Samuel Clemen's story, 'A Tramp Abroad', does any one know if the postage stamp values correspond to the chapters of the text e.g. lowest value, first chapter, etc.?
Thanks and happy collecting!

If anybody is interested in Mark Twain's book, you can find A Tramp Abroad (and pretty much any other work by major authors now in the public domain) on the Internet Archive. Ryan

What fun; thanks for posting ( salentin) :-)
This latest set from Bhutan, featuring the story of Rapunzel by the Brothers Grimm, is more or less chronological following the values of each stamp from my "reading". This in contrast to the earlier posting that featured Samuel Clemen's story, 'A Tramp Abroad'. Here, given the link shared by ( Ryan) to the actual text, used a more liberal association of events and their ordering given the stamp values in the set...
Happy collecting!

One of the earliast cartoons was "Der Struwwelpeter" by Heinrich Hoffmann. Hoffmann was a medical doctor, psychiatrist and lyrical poet in Frankfurt/Main. In 1844 he was looking for a good children´s book as a christmas-present to his three-years-old son. He could not find one he liked,so he decided to produce one by himself.Friends who saw his hand-written
and painted exercise-book with excitement, convinced him to print-publish it. This was done one year later and was a tremendous success. "Der Struwwelpeter" was translated into all mayor languages and sold worldwide.By the way,the translation into English was done by Mark Twain under the title: "Slovenly Peter".
Stamp issued on June 4th,2009,commemorating Dr.Hoffmann´s 200th birth anniversary.
