Hi. I've been spending some time this winter getting a website together for our local stamp club. Thought some of you might like taking a look. Right now I'm the only writer for the site but that will change. Our club president puts together a newsletter from time to time and I'd like him to post it on the site too. It's pretty basic so far, but I'll be adding more over time. I'd call it a 'Minimal Viable Website' at this point! Regina Philatelic ClubWhile most of the content so far is about club meetings and our annual show (this weekend!), I just posted an article called " Why I Collect Stamps". You might like that one too... Mark PS - the purpose of the site is to attract new club members. I'm trying to focus on new retirees / baby boomers getting back to the hobby, rather than kids. I'll let you know how that goes too. haha.

It looks like you're off to a great start and I especially like the links to online forums, ours included! If you're so inclined, I'd be interested in a brief synopsis on how the club's show went (e.g., dealers, exhibits, attendees, etc).

I'm working on a post about our show from last weekend (I have the pictures, but need the words) but in the meantime... I've been having fun with my postmark calendar. The experience touches this forum, Jim's blog and my local club. So I wrote a little about that. It's called " Watching Ideas Spread: The Stamp Collecting Community in Action". Hope you like it. Mark

Thanks for the photo MadBaker and I followed the link to your club website which I think is very good! I've tried putting up websites myself over the years and they have never looked like that!
That was a lot of dealers you got to your show wasn't it? They really came with lots of material by the looks of things so I'm thinking members of your club and/or visitors are very keen to spend money on their collections. Long may that continue.

Sorry I am late to the party on this thread, but I agree with tregeor. Mark ( madbaker), this is great stuff! I have belonged to a few stamp clubs over the years, but none has been as well organized on activities as what yours has. Congratulations and well done!

Thanks guys. The show has had a fairly standard format for the past 20 years or so. I like it because I've been able to make friends with one of the dealers, so we can visit even during years where my purchases are meager.
The club activities have really improved over the past five years, thanks to two people in particular who put together the annual program and cajole members into presenting. We are like most clubs, where everyone appreciates the presentations but few will present. But I enjoy the meetings quite a bit.
Mark
