Those of you who collect the 1869 pictorial issues know the frustration of finding nicely centered copies of these stamps. I always bid on copies I run across, with little expectation of winning because of my limited budget. Imagine my surprise when I won this little beauty for $15.75 (folks, for centering like this on the 12 cent issue, you usually pay a minimum of 1/2 CV and often much more). This image is from the auction site as I just won the stamp today and have yet to get my sweaty palms on it! For this issue, I would grade the stamp as XF+. Comments?

Bobby, all I can say is wow, and congratulations! In addition to stamps, I also collect quotes. One of my favorites is one by someone named F.J. Raymond, who said: "Next to being shot at and missed, nothing is really quite as satisfying as an income tax refund." Well, I think for a stamp collector, nothing is quite as satisfying as getting an amazing deal on a great stamp, and I think that your purchase of this U.S. Scott #117 (2017 CV $120.) is clearly that. One of the reasons that I don't even have this stamp in my own U.S. collection is that I have never been able to find a copy with VF or better centering for what I would consider a reasonable price. Getting a stamp of this quality for roughly 13% of current SCV is definitely reason to celebrate, so it's time to pop open a bottle of your favorite adult beverage and savor the moment! On top of that, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.....
