I've just bought this Stanley Gibbons voucher, the likes of which I have never seen before. I know absolutely nothing about it, so if anyone has any information please add to this thread. The main question is; when was this produced? Although the illustration would appear to hail from around 1860 (the first time the Great Eastern entered New York harbour), this is probably misleading, and the voucher is almost certainly much later. The £5 value would also indicate a much later production. The illustration has however been very well reproduced. I wonder if Stanley Gibbons would still honour it?

As to when this might have been issued, I agree with your assessment that the £5 value indicates a much later production than the image suggests. Personally, based on the stylized, italicized font used for "The dealer promises to pay stamps to the value of", I would guess that this might have been done in the 1970s. Just a guess. If I can find any evidence to back up my guess, I will let you know.

Personally I think it has been designed by Terry Gilliam. It has a bit of a Monty Pythonesque feel to it, although it is not silly enough.
