These will be adde to my War Tax Addendum thread, once it's updated, but thought they were interesting enough to merit a thread of their own. Picked up these four match books yesterday, which include excise tax imprints. Earlier versions read War Excise Tax or ExciseWar Tax. Canadian revenue expert Christopher Ryan has a two part study on line, which I'll be downloading. There are some other sites as well. The Mount Royal Hotel tax stamp which is difficult to read is 3/20ยข. These all come in a variety of denominations and colour combinations. Not sure of the age of these, but Goldwin Corlett Elgie was first elected to the Woodbine electoral District in 1934, and was reelected twice, in 1937 and 1945, so that book would date from either of those last two years.
