I have just uploaded twenty eight images which were in an order. They have become disassociated by the image hosting software and for my ease of posting I would like to sort them into alphanumeric order by the title. How do I do this please?
Regards
Gavin

I have had a couple multi-image posts, but I am just a newbie here.
I just upload them one at a time. It doesn't take that long, and you get them displayed in the order you want.

Over at the GOMC I had posted over 6000 images, I really do not want to do them all over again one at a time.

While the software allows the sorting of albums A-Z, it does not do so for images. At present, the software developer is not willing to entertain the idea of adding an image sort feature. While not optimum, the two workarounds I see are: 1. uploading images using the plugin in the order they will appear in your post at the time it is being created, or 2. selecting the previously uploaded images that you want to include in a post, select "get embed codes" from the pull-down action menu, then copy the BBCode embed codes and paste them into your post. The codes may not be in the order you want the images to display so you may have to reorder them.
From my perspective, the first option (upload using the plugin) is the simplest.
I wish I could provide you with an image sort capability but I'm at the mercy of the software developer.

As I upload many images at once for posts and the newsletter (over 100 last issue) I need a method of knowing the order they come in and the embed code does not provide it.
Once all the images are uploaded and scrambled, I can still see the sequence they should come in so I right click on the image I want first and go to the "Copy image Location" box that pops up - NOT Copy Link Location - it doesn't work
From there open the "Insert Image" button and paste (Ctrl+V or right click "Paste"} in the URL and then Insert Image button. There is some minor work involved but just go back and forth between browser tabs getting the "Image Location" and inserting it.
If your image is too large which can be annoying for some viewers. Simply right click the image and drag the corner to a more convenient size. It works in reverse but the quality will suffer.
If you do reduce the image, the viewer can still see the original To view the original, the viewer right clicks on the image and goes to "View Image". The original size will come up. You should however inform the viewer of this
Try it below
When you go to the image and see a small circle with a +, click on it to see the full size
The Image Upload plugin is very convenient for a single image and the majority of users but with multiples not so. It automatically inserts 1 image in the post and then you have to go search for the others - at least from my end it does.
I prefer to use the TSF image direct link in another browser tab. Anyway, lots of choices to upload images and all fairly simple if you give it some time and effort. It isn't the same as whatever your previous image host was but it isn't expensive or going away. Between existing and new members well over 10m images have been lost on other "free image sites"

1. uploading images using the plugin in the order they will appear in your post at the time it is being created, or I am sorry I do not understand what you mean. What is this 'plugin' you refer to? 2. selecting the previously uploaded images that you want to include in a post, select "get embed codes" from the pull-down action menu, then copy the BBCode embed codes and paste them into your post. The codes may not be in the order you want the images to display so you may have to reorder them. Each image is titled so I copy both code and title at the same time. Previously this was not a problem because there were no associations betwen images. Now I have sets of matchbox labels as well as pairs of images for covers and postcards. This really is awkward, and frankly the whole image handling system is not intuitive nor user friendly.

It is really unfortunate because I have neither the time nor inclination to work around it. I consider Allan's postmark database well worth supporting and will continue to do so in future, but that will be the limit of my participation.

I'm sorry that you feel that way but respect your decision.
I purchased this image host for use by our members at no cost to them as a means to prevent uploaded images from ever being held for ransom again.
I acknowledge that the software has limitations but I've used it to upload over 6,400 images without difficulty and it appears to be working for the majority of its users.

Nelson, that only occurs if you are inserting multiple images while the post editor is in Preview mode -- if uploading in BBCode mode, all of the image URLs will be inserted in the post.

I just made my first post on here in a long time (in years, in fact), and used the image uploader to upload 2 images to the post. I had quite the opposite experience of Feebletodix -- I was amazed at how easy it worked with multiple images. It dropped both images in together, right where I wanted them in the post. In fact, I sent a quick note to Steve to tell him how impressed I was with it.
So my gentle recommendation to the original poster would just be to spend a little time practicing a bit and seeing if it could go as smoothly for him as it did for me!

Philatarium, my experience of using computers began with use of the Prime B mainframe whilst still in school. I have sufficient experience with using lots of software from then until now to be able to use this with ease. The speed with which I can process data is quite good hence the eighty posts onto Allan project in two days, if the preparation is good enough.
The quantity is the key, when loading in small numbers there is no problem. I have 6000+ images to share and a stack of other interesting items yet to be scanned. Doing them one or two at a time is not an option.
Steve, I understand and applaud your efforts, hence my wish to support this place. I drew in 300K hits in three years in the quiet little backwater at the Grumpy Old Mens Club, I suspect there would be a few more here. Quantity is the issue. If you persuade the host to put in this most basic of tools I will happily swamp the place.
nll947, I see you as you are edit and all. In comparison to Steve's understanding you fail miserably to attain the courteous manners and standards of your peers.

Nelson, that only occurs if you are inserting multiple images while the post editor is in Preview mode -- if uploading in BBCode mode, all of the image URLs will be inserted in the post. Thanks, I seldom use the BBCode as the Newsletter images have to be done individually..
I tried it with some 20 images and it puts them all in an alphabetical sequence in one column based on their name which is to be expected
Rearranging them into groups or proper order is simple with "Drag & Drop" on the Preview mode using the mouse and inserting spaces or a row space before dropping.
You could also insert a number in the name as a prefix before upload to keep the right order but that might be tedious with existing scans.
All in all actually simpler than using the TSFImage site separately and as good as any other image upload out there.
Members are fortunate that we have our own image site free from ransoming and not suddenly disappearing. Finding and installing a plugin that works with ProBoards which uses its own proprietary forum system was not an easy task.
Some mergers of free image sites have been announced lately so those "free" days may be at an end, although, new ones are popping up....
