Yes, it is me again, making yet another appeal for members to submit material for publication in our Newsletter. I wish that I didn't have to keep doing this but the simple truth is that very few of our members have been willing to support the Forum's Newsletter by submitting something of a philatelic nature to fill its pages. As I've said many times before, if you can write an understandable post, you can write something for the Newsletter. We are looking for all sorts of material, from well-researched articles to human interest-type stories such as: why one collects, a review of a visit to a stamp show or bourse, a review of a philatelic publication, a philatelic memory, tips for stamp and/or postal history collectors, etc. I think you get the picture, we're interested in getting all of the above -- and we'd like to receive submissions not only from the old-timers but also from our newest joins. There is no need to worry about how the finished product will look -- all we need is the text and a few good quality images (if you don't have images we'll try to find some that will fit) and our award-winning Editor will do the rest. We'll also work with you if you're not quite sure how to proceed, just send a forum personal message (PM) to either Nelson (@falshung ) or me and we'll try to assist. Remember, also, that the Newsletter's readership extends well beyond that of the Forum's members -- each issue of the Newsletter is added to the American Philatelic Research Library's digital collection and the article chosen to represent the Forum in our annual competition is posted on the APS website as an Article of Distinction. Please don't disregard this appeal -- if you've gained something positive from being a member of this Forum then this is a way you can give back to our membership. Ask not what your Forum's Newsletter can do for you -- ask what you can do for your Forum's Newsletter.

The response thus far has been somewhat disappointing (a polite characterization)...surely we can do better.

Submissions for the October-December issue of the Newsletter will be needed by mid-September but will be accepted at any time prior to that timeframe. We are going to a quarterly publication schedule until such time as member submissions increase.

The editorial staff can't wait to get started on the first issue of Volume 4 -- please try to finish up what you're working on and have it submitted by September 10th (sooner if possible).

Thanks for the reminder, Steve ( Admin). I have been working on something which is now in final draft form, so just has to be reviewed/edited one last time. You will have it in within the next 24 hours.

barbara , We are always looking for material. We'd like to have articles for the October-December issue by the first week of September (2nd week at the absolute latest). Anything received after that will be held for a subsequent issue.

When i've posted this thestampforum.boards.net/thread/7618/polish-railways-train-stations-postmarksi was thinking to deliver it to the journal... the doubts to do the big step are easy: - It is not "new", meaning i've posted before somewhere else... - I'm not so a good writer and so a big expert to write something that could be helpful or just readable by other people... - Noone will find it interesting... - Would someone else correct at least the ortography? You ask me to write something for the journal where i find sometime difficult to answer to a thread here...

Thanks for your post, @farmalion . To my knowledge, any TSF member including new members, are welcome to contribute to the Newsletter. If you read the first post in this thread, it states: Steve, our Admin , can comment further later today, but I cannot imagine any reason to exclude any registered member from writing an article for the Newsletter.

What I collect: If I have a catalogue for it, I collect it. And I have many catalogues ....

In the past we have had the occasional article written by members with well under 50 forum posts made at the time of the newsletter's publication. I'm sure Steve would be pleased to have another newcomer joining the fold of TSF authors ...

@farmalion Absolutely ! Anyone can write an article at anytime as Beryllium Guy and Ryan have pointed out. In the past we have also had some incentives and prizes for 'newcomer' articles so please feel free to start one. There is plenty of time before the next edition. Any more new-ish members who wish to write something now is the time to start. If you need any help, please don't hesitate to ask. Anything with a Philatelic connection is acceptable. Have fun and get going !! Londonbus1

All members are welcome to submit material. We shy away from things that have previously been published but have made exceptions when we've had few submissions. We aren't looking for novels; short stories are preferred. If the article is long, consider breaking it into parts so that it can span 2 or more issues.
Submit the article to stampforum.net@gmail.com as a text file with suggested placeholders for associated images (i.e. image 1 here). Submit the images as separate files, named to correspond with the placeholders in the text (i.e., image 1, image 2, etc.)

What I collect: British Colonies - King George VI from all countries and King Edward VII & King George V from the West Indies.

I have been posting articles on my Facebook page on how to identify various King George VI stamps - like most recently the Bermuda High Value issues. The article includes a chart that will help identify the various Stanley Gibbons numbers and includes the Scott and Commonwealth (Murray Payne) ID's. If you are interested, I would be happy to allow you to include one each time. If you are interested, contact me by email and I can send you the article plus the graphic for evaluation.
