Hi, This is my first post on the forum. It is a series of overprinted stamps issued in 1912(stamps from 1904-06 overprinted in black or carmine). Scott mentions: "Two spacings between the surcharged numerals are found" but not the value. I have an information that there are only 180 stamps with this plate flaw and that it is most prized. Thanks for the catalog value (in stampworld is 800Euro)

A very nice series. These "05" and "10" overprints appeared on stamps from many French colonies, and the spacings are quoted in Yvert & Tellier as:
Normal spacing: 1.5mm between the 0 and 5 and 2.5 mm between the 1 and the 0 Wide spacing: 2mm between the 0 and 5 and 3 mm between the 1 and the 0
The catalog value (in the 2011 Y&T French Colonies) for the wide spacing Indochina stamps are:
#59A: 05 on 4c: 1000 E. #60A: 05 on 15c: 40 E. #61A: 05 on 30c: 110 E. #62A: 10 on 40c: 90 E. #63A: 10 on 50c: 95 E. #64A: 10 on 75c: 150 E.
For the normal spacing, the series as a whole has a catalog value of 18 Euros. Mint and used are quoted the same for all stamps in the set.

hrdoktorx-thank you, stampworld is close in value. I have several plate flaws with 05 numbers from the other French colonies. They are not certified and I am uncertain about their genuineness. The distance between 0 and 5 is 2mm ,but there are so many fakes.

Bought today, a full set of the 1922-23 definitives from French Indo-China. I only needed about half of them, but the set was cheap enough to get complete.

I'm back with these Indochina stamps (Scott, Michel, Yver-Tellier - # 59) one with a normal overprint (1.5 mm between 0 and 5) and one with a distance of 2 mm (the so-called - chiffres espaces) Both stamps have the tipo overprint. It differs in that one is matte and the other glossy. These 2 Grasset type stamps were overprinted together with the Groupe type stamps. This matt/gloss overprint difference also appears on genuine Groupe type stamps. The stamp with variation has a catalog value of 1000 Euro and I wonder why the overprint was not forged? I did not find any reference on the net about the forgery of this overprint. A few years ago, a French collector wrote to me that there were forgeries and a French dealer/expert from Paris whose name I no longer remember - Scheller would be the only connoisseur. I would like to know more details about this stamp before I put it up for sale. Thanks for any information about just this Grasset type stamp.
