What I collect: stamps, covers, postal cards from Canal Zone, early USA, Channel Islands

I found this in a glassine envelope with some very ordinary US stamps. I have read that 10 perf precancels can have some value. I have seen some Monroe precancels that auctioned for nice sums. However this stamp is in rough condition, and I'm not knowledgeable enough to evaluate it properly. It seems like 10 perf to me, but given the stamps it was residing with, I'm very skeptical. Sometimes my scanner doesn't render colors great. This stamp is a deeper orangey-yellow. Can someone with more knowledge set me right on this stamp? Also, if this would be a valuable issue, does this stamp or cancel look forged?

After some research, I think the 10 perf folks were talking about were precancels on the rare variety of Scott #562c (1923) that has a 10 perf on top OR bottom (and only there). I believe the underlying stamp in my original post is #591 which is 10 perf all four sides (1925), and not rare.
