I'm going to make a series of posts here of an incomplete collection of early Montenegro stamps. I'm not greatly knowledgeable on stamps of this country, so I always hold out the possibility that some or all are forgeries, but all except the first appear to be of high enough printing quality that it would surprise me if they were. First are examples of the third printing of the first series (1874-1893). Shown are Scott #5-7:

Looking at that dashing gent in the stamps, I am thinking of having my full beard changed to what he is sporting! I'll wait for it to fill in a bit more before I change over though...

The next series is Scott #74-85 (1910) depicting different stages in the life of King Nicholas I, commemorating the Proclamation of Montenegro as a kingdom. #74 showing King Nicholas I as a youth #75 showing King Nicholas I and Queen Milena #76 (not shown, missing from my set) King Nicholas I in 1910. Same image also on #77, #80 & #81 #77 same image as #76, #80, & #81 #78 King Nicholas I, a Prince at the time, in 1878 #79 (not shown, missing from my set) similar to #75, but with wheat ears surrounding the portrait #80 same as #76, #77, & #80 #81 (not shown, missing from my set) same image as #76, #77, & #80 #82-84 King Nicholas I side portrait (#82 not shown, missing from my set) #85 Prince Nicholas. I posted a higher resolution of this one because I really like the design and the fine detail.

This is the last regular series of early Montenegro stamps, Scott #86-97 (1913). Same design on all, but different colors/denominations. I'm missing about half of them. #86 - unfortunately this has a terrible fault; with age it curled, and then split vertically along nearly its entire length. It looks better pressed flat in the scan than in real life. #88 & 89 #92 & 93 #97

I also completely agree with Nelson (@falshung) that you have done an excellent job with the scans, too. I am sorry to say that although I have some early Montenegro stamps which could contribute to this thread, I do not have any of them with me at the moment, so I will not even be able to consider making any posts in this area until Christmas. Sorry, as I would have liked to add to this. To soften that blow a little, I should be able to help you complete your #86-97 set if you like, and replace your damaged #86. I am 99% sure I have multiple duplicates of these, so if you PM me your postal mailing address, when I get home for Christmas, I will send you enough to complete your set. Thanks again for some great posts!

To answer your question, bushk2 , here are examples of those Montenegro perforation types. I don’t collect these, so used pics from Colnect database, a great source for info such as this. According to pics on Colnect here is an example of pointed teeth perfs This one is an example of “ small irregular wide teeth”

Can anyone suggest where I can get 23-hole page protectors for a 23-ring album.
