I'm 63 years old from a resort area in Minnesota and have been retired for six years. I'm 20 years Military (4 years Navy Seabees, 16 years National Guard) and spent 33 years as an electrical technician/substation electrician for a power company. I spend my time traveling, golfing, fishing and dabbling in my huge stamp accumulation. I've bought many accumulations and collections over the years and have finally gotten into going through it all. I've found many gems so far and have been able to recoup several times what I've spent so far. The reason I wanted to join your group is because I once in a while run across an item I can't identify or can't find any references about it. Hopefully the knowledge is out there because I've never been too old to learn when it comes to philately. RB aka BEAVERSTAMPS

Curious...with a name like beaverstamps do you by chance indulge in early Canada ? Would love to see them.

Hi RB and a hearty post-Veterans' Day Thank You for serving our country! I'm nearing your age (four years younger) but being self-employed I am envious about your retired free time for stamps. I try in between my job to sneak a peek at this forum, or otherwise play with my stamps....but there never seems to be enough philatelic time. I too have a decent accumulation, 50 years worth. Lots of answers to lots of questions here and elsewhere online. Just a nicer crowd here than anywhere else :-)

Your collecting style and experience sound very interesting to me, so I am hoping that you will favor us with some posts of your material, but I am especially interested to see some images of those gems that you found, even if you have sold them off to pay for everything else. Like Frog ( firstfrog2013), I was also wondering if your site name meant that you are a collector of classic Canadian stamps.... In any case, enjoy your time with us, and see you around the Forum! -Chris (aka Beryllium Guy)

'Never too old to learn' ! I couldn't agree more as I have been finding out with a decent-sized Commonwealth collection I previously knew nothing about. Have fun at our place and post often.

I didn't see where I could reply to an individual (firstfrog2013, renden, tomiseksj & others) so I guess this goes out to everyone? I used to have a ton of Bileski items and yes, I do have a bunch of Canadian stuff, some on eBay. It's not selling well right now. I'll see if I can get a few images on of some stuff I probably need expertized. Can't find any info on the wood ducks but I'm pretty sure the Newspaper stamps are genuine.

Nice stuff beaverstamps.Too bad the 5cent newspaper is so ratty.Do you actively pursue the errors? If you look through the Canada threads you will see some of my nice finds of the last few years.Probably the most amazing is the war tax block or the watermarked 1/2 cent large queen. Some others there too look around.

beaverstamps as per expertizing up to you but man the fees are crazy. If you are only looking to collect them be satisfied of what you know if it's something you'd sell maybe a cert helps but remember it also adds to the cost.Hard to recover the cost when the market is slow.I have many items that should probably be documented but why?I don't sell my stamps I collect them.

From reading articles in Linn's, they would not class that missing blue in the booklet as an error, but rather a freak or oddity. There is blue some blue for the values, except the lower left. Maybe take that one out so that it LOOKS like a true error. The others kind of make it not so. It was just a poorly printed pane. Probably a number of other similar to it. Like firstfrog2013 said, it is expensive to have items expertized. Would it be worth it to do that to that booklet? Probably not. But that is entirely up to you! Interesting item though...-
