A commemoratve series honouring the countries, who participated in the Korean War on the side
of the United Nations Mission was issued 1951/52. All stamps were issued on Sept.15th,1951,except where stated differently.

issued Oct.25th,1951 By error the stamps show the flag of the Kingdom of Italy. However the monarchy had been abolished in 1945. According to Michel the print was 10.000 stamps each. When the error was discovered all unsold stamp were destroyed immediately.I have no knowledge about how many of the stamps were destroyed. But I think,it will not be many, as the price of the pair is not much different than of other stamps of the set, what also had a print of 10.000.

What I collect: Cinderellas and some Ephemera from Great Britain, France and Israel plus a few beautiful bits from elsewhere !! Topical interests include Flags & Judaica, the latter with an emphasis on the Jewish National Fund.

There are some very nice Flag stamps on this topic that I will be searching for on my upcoming trip to the UK. I have always wanted to acquire the full set of this Flag series of the countries participating in the Korean war. Never had the luck but I'll keep trying. I do have the following items but have no idea about the sheet as it's the only one I have seen. Great thread ! U.S.A. I have always adored the minute colour shifts to many of the stamps in the series. Not sure why !!

I also like this series a lot.The USA pair is the one with the highest print: 50.000 according to Korean catalogues. Michel claims 20.000,but it seems plausible, that the stamps honouring the U.S. commitment would have a bigger print, than all the others. There are 22 souvenir sheets. The print of 2000 each is "very high" for s.s. of that periode.Till then of all others
300 only had been printed.I do not know, wether they were given as presents to high officials only,as all the previous and all later ones, what were issued till 1957. Suprisingly the s.s.-set is listed only about 30% higher, than the complete set of stamps. All s.s.are listed at the same price, except Italy II,what is ten times more expensive than the others.

Italy, flag corrected, issued Feb.10th,1952 These are the Korean commemoratives with the lowest print of all of them. The Korean Stamp Catalogue KPC 2001 and Michel 1994 state 7000 each, Korean Standard Catalogue 2000 is even lower: 6000 each.

New Zealand,issued Sept.15th,1951
Both stamps exist with a damaged L in ZEALAND
enlarged:
I have the one only.
Strange: Michel (1994) mentions that NEW ZEALAND exists in two types 16 mm wide Type I and 14,5 mm wide Type II. The NEW ZEAIAND variety obviously is of the 16 mm type.
However S.G. (1984) mentions UNION OF SOUTH AFRICA 14 mm (type I) and 15,8 mm (Type II). Would be interesting to know what types really do exist.

I showed this remarkable set in the order of Michel cat. The last pair would be that for the USA,shown by Londonbus1 in his post of May 4th.

definitives,issued July 1st,1951 (1000 Won) / Feb.22nd,1952 (200 & 300 Won) / 20,50,100 Won no specific date of issue is known,but presumably it was early in 1952.
