I like those Marianne Moyotte overprints - now to find a nice used set... If I was fortunate enough to win some money at lotto, my first destination would be to travel around Travancore, my next destination would be Mayotte and Diego Suarez. They hold some fascination for me. |

I've now shown most of my Comoros Islands stamps, so I'm now moving on to the Mayotte issues. Mayotte had its own stamps from 1892 to 1912 (YT #1-31), and then again from 1997 to 2011. Both periods under French administration. After 2011, Mayotte became a full-fledged department of France, and is now using standard French stamps. So here we have the first block from Mayotte, issued for the Philexfrance'99 stamp show and a re-issue of the same stamp but with euro currency in 2002.  |

The 2004-2008 definitives issues from Mayotte, featuring a map of the island. Two printings were made, the 2004 has an ITVF signature at the bottom, and the 2008 says Phil@poste instead.  |

Thanks to Xavier ( hrdoktorx ), once again, for inspiring me to post some images of classic stamps in these threads for the Comoro Islands, which he has either started or revived. Similar to Mohéli, I have just a couple of these classic Navigation & Commerce issues from Mayotte. Shown below are Sc 1-2 and Sc 27, the latter of which is the 5-centime surcharge on 30-centime stamp. I am going to start actively trying to acquire more of these early French colonial issues for my collection, especially during my time in France.  |
