Way back in the 70's, I toyed with collecting Bermuda. All I ended up collecting were these covers. I'm not sure what happened to 1977, or my idea of collecting Bermuda. Being in my first posting with the military must have had something to do with it.

Great cover and thematic-slogan cancellation Bob (anglobob); thanks for sharing :-) I, for one, appreciate the feather friend being included in the slogan and have added this one to my list...
Thanks again and happy collecting!

Bumping up another thread which hasn't seen a post for a while: I like covers with multiples whether they are philatelic or not. I think they add interest to an album, so I sometimes go out of my way to find neat covers to augment a set or country I particularly like.

I wonder if the purple triangle stamp is Bermuda or from Canadian postal mark. A very nice cover. David

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Recent posts to this thread had me review the small group of first day covers I have. The previous owner appears to have had storage space issues and sadly folded the long covers. I will not bother sharing the ones after 1950. I like this little local 1937 one celebrating the Coronation of George VI. This 10th October, 1949 Universal Postal Union I found interesting because of the recipient. I wonder back in that era how many newspapers had a Stamp Editor. The cover was obviously sent by the government for marketing purposes.

David ( dgdecker) & Jeff ( JeffS): If you look closely at the purple triangular mark, you can read the word BERMUDA in the lower right. The origin of the mark is clear.

It is a Bermudian Censor's marking. All mail moving from North America to and from Europe passed through Bermuda during both WW I and WW II was it was opened and read. This also included mail originating in Bermuda itself. Most censored mail "passed" inspection and was resealed and sent on its way.

Here is me not a collector of Bermuda covers seeing this one offered amongst a bunch of other lots I was bidding on so I tossed a modest bid at it. This is how we all get off track. There appear to be quite a few of these 1936 philatelic first day covers around but this one is a bit more appealing than most. It was mailed from Mangrove Bay to Hamilton with the Hamilton duplex cancel on the back. Too bad the COME TO BERMUDA THE ISLES OF REST was not complete.

I generally stay clear of posting stamp related items I do not own but I thought others would like seeing this item that got away from me at auction this week. I had bid and received notice I was outbid so upped my bid well above the auction estimate and still lost out. It was listed as: QE One Pound tied on TRANS-CANADA AIR LINES 1954 Passenger Ticket. The graphics on the ticket are nice. Trans-Canada Air Lines became Air Canada. Of course the one pound Queen Elizabeth stamp is a gem. It would be nice if someone I know was the lucky winner.
