I belong to the Postcrossing group. Every once in a while I will receive a postcard that I just have to share and this one is no exception. From Taiwan: The front just has a puppy on it but I think the colors and postmarks on this one is just awesome.

Hi everyone!
As an avid fan of the Exploring Stamps youtube channel, I learned about postcrossing. I actually collected postcards as a kid but never went back to it like I did with my stamps. But of course, post cards are very stamp related, and I found myself joining the official Postcrossing site and now completing various swaps and round robin style exchanges - and I just LOVE it. It's amazing what kinds of postcards you can get these days from typical tourist cards to every hobby, theme and style you can imagine. I am going to greatly enjoying adding these to my topical collections, but it's been a very wonderful experience. Given lockdown, I've had to buy the cards to send online (and believe me, the choice is amazing) but I am looking to being able to browse local museums and gift shops for treasures to send.
Is anyone else a postcrosser?

I think it is time to revive this thread and make it into something. I have been postcrossing more regularly now and I have had some interesting postcard and covers come my way of late. There are a lot of postcrossers who enclose there postcards in an envelope and send the card with message enclosed rather than put a stamp on the actual card. I prefer a mailed postcard myself but when I get something like this I don't complain. This card arrived from Taiwan today, like the card at the top of this thread. The card face depicts a bull for the Year of the Bull, which is 2021. The sender wrote me a nice message and also included a short greeting in Chinese while the body of the message is in clear well-written English. She noted the temperature of 22 celsius and that it was sunny when she mailed the card and add a couple of small stamped Chinese characters of her name at the bottom right. There is a diamond-shaped sticker at bottom left with a character that is unfamiliar to me and not one of the 300 commonly used characters used in South Korea. Any help would be appreciated. Here is the actual cover that the card and other contents arrived in. The two stamps are Sc. no. 4280 from the Fruits definitive series of 2016 and a large commemorative from 2012 Marine Life - Deep-Sea Creatures in Taiwan, Sc. no. 4082d. I also like the neat little airmail etiquette in the upper left corner. The The best part is that she is also a stamp collector and enclosed this nice selection of recent used stamps from Taiwan. Finally, all of these stamps were enclosed in this Chinese theater poster. You will not have noticed it but the whole envelope was made from this same poster. I didn't want to tear the envelope apart and destroy it but if you look inside you can see this same picture.

You'll find me as dorinco. After 11 random swaps by their computer, I switched to swapping in the forum of postcrossing. Lots of great postcards over the years, and lots of penpals/partners in tens of countries, including some exotic ones. "If you want to have a friend, be one."

Three postcards I am mailing out on Monday to addresses in PRC, India and Lithuania. Getting postcrossing contacts and addresses to India and Lithuania are both new for me. I currently have 5 postcards out or will have out as of Monday. I asked for 4 boxes of postcards for Christmas with Postcrossing in mind. All of them have either botanical or bird themes. These, I think, are cards that would normally be for sale in gift shops in museums, or, in this case, the Kew Royal Botanical Gardens.

I am also a postcrosser and have been participating for the last 8ish years. It's really fun and very easy to go inactive for a time or get crazy active for a time. I have a penpal from postcrossing that lives in Estonia and we have been writing for 7 years! I do wish they would let you just send and not have to receive, haha. I enjoy the writing and choosing of the postcard and stamp but I don't care too much about receiving and having to log the postcard. I guess I'm weird that way!

oregon1234, I like all of it. For me it started out as an extension of stamp collecting but I really also like just receiving the postcards. While I like receiving mail in general, I really like getting the postcards, registering them and seeing the bit of information about the people who sent them.

St. Petersburg, Russia is where my latest Postcrossing postcard has come from. This was in the mailbox this morning along with a surprise envelope of stamps from one of our members. More on that later. The stamps below are Sc. no. 7922, from the FIFA World Cup set issued in 2018 and two 10 ruble definitives from the 7th Russian Federation definitive series which have a resemblance to the old Imperial issues. The message side of the card is in Russian and reads, "February. Hello from St. Petersburg. Best Wishes, Valery" In the upper right, below the soccer stamp, is "Airmail" written in red ink. Finally, the picture side shows the cruiser Aurora at permanent anchor in St. Petersburg. Here is some additional information regarding the Cruiser Aurora on Wikipedia. And here is a tourism website about St. Petersburg and Aurora specifically: Saint Petersburg

Another postcard showed up in my mailbox from Germany yesterday. The stamp was issued in 2021 and, on Colnect, is noted as Michel no. 3593 and depicts Überseequartier Station, Hamburg and is from a series of 2 stamps called Underground Station Architecture. I like the fact that there is a priority etiquette on this postcard as well as a sticker barcode down at the bottom. I can't see the location on the postmark but I do know that the postcrosser lives in a small village near Hanover called Lehrte and it looks like this could be the post office that postmarked this card. I had a difficult time understanding what I was looking at on the face of the postcard until I found this website. At first I was thinking I was looking at a polar scene but once I googled the description at the bottom of the card I found this website that put it all together for me... Beach Chairs-Camping Rantum

Here is a unique postcrossing card that came in the mail today. Rather than writing a message, the sender chose to cover the message side of the card with older, used Spanish stamps. djcmh, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to use your new set of Edifil Spanish specialized catalogs. Unfortunately, the sender also covered up the text that identifies what the picture side depicts. I am guessing it is a scene in Valencia as the sender has a lot of Valencia locals plastered on the back but I may be wrong. Can any of our members identify this scene? It looks like Spanish navy sailors at parade rest.

My first postcrossing postcard from Lithuania came in the mail today. The stamp on the card celebrates Vitas Luckus(1943-1987), Photographer, and was issued in September of 2020. The Sc. no. is 1170. It is not only postmarked with a green circular postmark in Vilnius but also has a barcode sticker from Lietuvos Pastas covering a portion of the stamp which is kind of disappointing. I do, however, like it when there is also some type of airmail etiquette like this one has. The flip side has photos of the cities of Lithuania.

Two postcrossing postcards appeared in my mailbox on the same day this past Friday. This first one is from Australia, and has a copy of Sc. no. 5233, a Christmas stamp issued in 2020 depicting Christmas Pudding. It has a sprayed on postmark which is a bit unclear, especially the second line of text but I think it reads "Secure your dog and protect your postie" along with a dog's face. I googled similar postmarks from 2019 which have a sihouette of a dog and a similar text, though not this precise wording. The stickers on both the face and the letter side of the card have a spray on barcode in a very light orange-ish yellow that may have been applied by either the Australia Post or the US Postal Service. I am going to leave them on even though the obscure part of the picture on one side and some additional writing and a sticker or two from the sender on the other.

The second card is definitely from a fellow stamp collector as she mentions in her note. This is, I think, my first postcard from India. The card has depicts the 1/4 A stamp from the Inauguration of New Delhi issued of 1931 and on the letter side of the card she placed Sc. no. 3159, Air Chief Marshal Arjan Singh (1919–2017) Commemoration, and two additional stamps depicting Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. I don't have catalog numbers on these because my Scott Catalogue only goes to 2016 and for some reason this evening, I was booted off of Colnect.

Another map postcard showed up in my mailbox today when I got home from work. This is called the Atlas of China on the picture side, and the message side has the same map in the background only faintly noticeable in the scan. The postcard was sent on March 9, 2021 which is about a month and a half ago. There is an airmail etiquette and 3 stamps from far right to left as follows: A 1.20元 stamp depicting Collaboration on Development between Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province, MI 4876 (no SN on Colnect) an 80元 stamp depicting New Look of Hometowns of Overseas Chinese, Sc. no. 3360 and finally on the left, Vacation Activities-Backpacking, a 3元 stamp, Sc. no. 4275. I am always a little bit amazed at what people tell me in their messages. This is one that is quite surprising but given that I live in another country and will likely never meet her, why not tell me her personal feelings.

A stack of books! This postcrosser from Russia sent me this handsome card. The stamps on the message side are the 4 ruble value and the larger format 54 ruble value from Russia's 7th definitive series. These are MI nos. 2732 and 2863. The 4 ruble denomination was issued in 2019 and the 54 ruble, in 2020. Both have chevron style security slits which make them a real challenge to remove from paper...not that I would want to. A nice little etiquette and a big round cancel from Marina's hometown post office are also really appealing to me.

As I prepared another postcrossing postcard to send to a country in Europe this evening it occurred to me that it would be nice to send and receive postcards from countries in Africa and more specifically Nigeria, the country I have been focusing on the most on recently. I receive a lot of cards from Europe and also Asia but have never received a postcard from Africa and, when I looked at the stats for Nigeria, I now understand why. There are only 13 members from Nigeria. Mind, you, they have sent 207 postcards but the statistics are against me in the hope that I will ever receive a postcard from one of them.

Hi Guys
Thanks for an interesting topic. The items were great.
I never knew about "formal" postcrossing until now. As a kid I had pen pals in Europe, which I guess is similar on a smaller scale.
