I have found a large envelope full of cut envelope corners, full cancellation with the quite common 1962 US SC1213 5 cent Washington
I may well have over 100... My first thought was to toss in the "to-be-soaked" box... but then, the question of "does it make any difference", and finally, is the effort even worth what I suspect is a very low value stamp?
I was going to add this to another thread but it seemed a bit to disconnected
as always, i appreciate your thoughts as I relearn the hobby!

Scott 1213 (and 1229) is a fairly common stamp of minimal value so I think the manner in which you approach this is best determined by what you intend to do with them.
If you are planning on disposing of them then you'll probably find greater interest in the complete postmark rather than used, off paper.

I have found a large envelope full of cut envelope corners, full cancellation with the quite common 1962 US SC1213 5 cent Washington Once upon a time, so-called "2x4" cancellations were popular with some collectors. This was a chunk of the envelope, roughly 2" x 4", big enough to contain a complete machine-applied cancellation. Here's an article from an old issue of the Machine Cancel Forum journal which uses the "2x4" term and shows this example (photocopied, oh well). Ryan

Please post a couple of images. As I pulled these out to place for the photo I realized, that the majority are not full envelope corners, but on the front side and most seem to be 1964-65 can't wait for scanner to arrive!

If they were mine, I would leave as they are and try to find a good home for them. They are many out there who collect fine cancels like that.

I gather stamps, not covers or pieces, but I did save these 2x4s because they happened to be cancelled on my birthday. Ryan
