Mourning cover w. interesting "CALA" for California cancel

This Mourning cover postmarked Sept. 4, 1897 intrigued me, not just because of the interesting San Francisco machine cancel. I've never seen California abbreviated "CALA" before.
Overall just a nice cover; too bad it fulfilled its function (as a "Mourning Cover") and contained bad news for someone's loved one. I am not sure if my bid will be successful (online auction hasn't closed yet) but I thought I would share it and see if anyone has information on the cancel.
