In the recent past Beryllium Guy has been sending me some very nice covers from France to which are affixed a Cinderella, either on the front or the reverse of the envelope, as a seal. I have never collected this type of cover until now and am finding that they are very attractive and interesting, to my eye. Included in the items received from Chris was this very nice cover with no label or etiquette affixed but which is very much connected to the hobby of Cinderella collecting. The special cancel commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the world's oldest Cinderella Society, France's 'L'Arc en Ciel'. This cover, together with a recent purchase which arrived yesterday, inspired me start a new thread specifically for French Stamp Exhibitions and Societies, of which there are many. The Postmark shows that the Exhibition for Cinderellas/vignettes/labels was held in Paris on May 11-12, 1963. A set of 10 labels (Se-Tenant sheet) were organized by the Society and I am still searching for these. Later that same year a similar exhibition was held in Lyon from 9-17 November and a set of labels were produced by L'Arc en Ciel showing the different topical days of the event. Covers were also produced.

Just to add that the little figure in the labels of the previous post is Guignol from the Marionette shows of olden times. Rather appropriate don't you think ! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GuignolRecently, jimwentzell showed us a lovely cover he was bidding on franked by not only an overprinted Merson but also with a Label from the 'Le Havre' Stamp Exhibition of 1929. I have just acquired a set of those labels, for a long time on my list of 'wants'.

Another from Le Havre, this time a 1948 label overprinted for an event in March 1949. The bottom half of the label is a little sad to look at.

I have shown these before but wanted to give them their proper home with other Exhibition items ! 1943 Air Post Exhibition in Paris. I was nudged to put them here as yesterday I was the winner of some unusual Cinderella Maximum Cards from this same event. Not often that I see such items. Beryllium Guy has kindly offered to accept them as the seller does not post to my country, so it will be a while before I post them here........but something to look forward to, no ?

This guy looks like he has the whole weight of the world on his shoulders.......literally !! (Atlas ?) At least he is urging all Philatelists to 'come to Paris' for the 1925 International Stamp Exhibition. Printed in Photogravure by Helio-Vaugirard of Paris, who printed many beautiful Stamps and Cinderellas in the first half of the 20th Century.

If you are/were a member of the Federation of French Philatelic Societies you would have one or some of these attractive labels affixed to your membership cards. From the 1940's until the 1990's at the very least, but in many different colours. I have yet to find an example without the year stamped/overprinted on them. Notice the lack of Colonies in the later issues !!

Below is an item I have been waiting for, the seller decided in the end to post to me although our very kind member in Aix, Beryllium Guy was on stand-by to receive the packet. My thanks to him. I showed previously some labels from the 50th Anniversary exhibition of 'l'Arc en Ciel', the French Philatelic Society for non-postage stamps. They were from the event in Lyon. Similar events were also held in 1963 in Paris and Le Mans. A Paris cover was shown in the opening post. Below are the labels for the Paris event. A perforated Se-Tenant sheet as a booklet pane and an Imperf sheet of the same designs.

Labels from the 1943 Air Post Exhibition were shown previously. Unknown to me, until a random search last month, was the existence of a type of Cinderella 'Maximum' Card for this event. The cards I found were of the same colour, Black, but without inscriptions. But they were, like the Labels, beautifully produced.

This is certainly part of the celebration issues for the French Stamp Centenary in 1949. Whether it is an item from Citex or not is open to question. I am sure there are many other items to find yet..........

I have been searching for French Philatelic Exhibition Vignettes for months but have never come across those from Grenoble !! They are lovely.
I'll move them to the French Philatelic Exhibition thread if that's OK. We can start quite a story there !!

From the 1975 ARPHILA exhibition. The artist for the stamps shown last was J. Coulet. I do not know who designed or engraved the others.

Thank you for pointing me to the Philatelie Berck site - I didn't know they were produced in imperforate sheets of 4. Unfortunately, the inscriptions on the sheets do not provide any additional information as to who G Vassileff is.
I assume Philatelie Berck is the successor to Edouard Berck. I have the following in my collection. A little off topic, but I always found it to be neat. Perhaps a sample expertizing certificate? The front reads: Offert par les Editions Edouard Berck 6 PLACE DE LA MADELEINE - PARIS (VIIII). Unfortunately, I cannot make out what the back reads.

I have a pair of this cinderella...will post in French cinderella thread Thanks for posting the Berck labels with the original French stamp in the French cinderella thread. I compared the stamps and still cannot decide whether Edouard Berck had access to the original printing plates, as I always assumed he did. I see enough similarities to think he did have access to the plates, but enough differences to think maybe not.

I can't show anything as beautiful and classical as those in the posts above (thanks anglobob and de61 ) but taking a break from forum cleaning I picked up on these. A recent eBay purchase, quite saucy and humorous (are you watching philatelia ?) and a lot of fun. The Stamp design Competition/Exhibition was held in Paris in 1921. Shown are 5 large labels from a set of 7. (please keep a lookout for the missing two for me, thanks) They are listed in a catalogue of Exhibition Poster stamps by L'Arc en Ciel, the French Cinderella Stamp Club. My friend Ray Petersen ( maerkat ) gave me the following description: "1921 - Paris Exhibition of the Stamp Competition at the Galerie Barbazange. 1 horizontal sheet of 15 cm. by 25 cm. composed of 7 horizontal stamps, different formats. Humorous subjects: 1) Left, Sower in rags; on the right, text. 2) Right, Sower leading a postman; text on the left. 3) Sign of the Gallic Legions. 4) Bust of Sower, holding a dandelion flower. 5) Question mark in front of numbered boxes. 6) Left, body of naked Sower with a dead rooster in an ancient helmet held over her arm; right, text. 7) On the left, Semeuse sweeping up postage stamp images; on the right, text. Perforated on colored lines. Blue. . . . RR Separate stamps. . . R (Each stamp was designed by a different artist.) Number 6 is known with the Phrygian cap of the Sower in red (Bertrand Collection). We do not know if the numbers 1, 2, 4 and 7, which also include a Sower, also exist with the cap in red. "
