This was most likely the first Cinderella Congress held anywhere. Although the term for such collecting came much later. Organized by the the World's Oldest 'Cinderella' stamp Club, L'Arc en Ciel. I've been after these for some time and on this latest occasion I would not be outbid !! And doesn't she look relaxed admiring her labels and seals ?

Hayange is a small town in North-East France and this Stamp Exhibition from 1936 has fallen off the radar somewhat. It might well be that it was a local event only given the location but they certainly did not skimp on the souvenirs in those days !! I have always had a soft spot for Cinderellas or Ephemera with 'stamp scenes' like the one on these Exhibition Labels. Thus far I have found these on 3 different coloured papers; Green, Yellow and White.

'Semaine de Bonte- A Week of Kindness' Max Ernst's controversial book of Victorian Collages was completed in 1933 and published a year later. Were these labels, produced for the 1933 Philatelic Exhibition in Orleans, France, advertising the fact ? Printed on different coloured papers in sheets of 4 both Perf and Imperf. A week of kindness at a Stamp Exhibition in France sounds perfect to me !! Londonbus1

anglobob showed an example of the Poster Stamp below in an earlier post. There are at least 4 colours, both Perf and Imperf. The one shown here was listed as a Proof and I was outbid on the other 3 colours. Printed by Helio Vaugirard for the 1925 International Stamp Exhibition in Paris (May 2-12). This may have been issued on 'Aviation Day'. I have seen some nice covers flown from Le Bourget Airstrip near Paris to Belgium and elsewhere but they are out of my budget ! The Poster stamp shown Icarus in flight with relevant inscriptions and is the work of the award-winning Designer Edmund Becker who was a sculptor and goldsmith known for his work on Medals as well as stamps and other artifacts.

Yet another Philatelic Exhibition in France during WWII. This one (1943) in Saint-Maur-des-Fosses, a Commune South-East of Paris. Part of the design to the right depicts the former 'Chateau Saint Maur' which was destroyed during the French Revolution. It was formerly owned by the Conde Family. (The long-haired fella !!)

Nice-looking labels produced for the International Stamp Exhibition in Paris, Aug-Sept 1900. The event took place at the home of the French Horticultural Society. I love the way she is using tweezers to admire her stamps !! Or maybe she is looking into a mirror to admire her hair ? !!

1944 'Aide aux Musiciens' sheets inscribed for the 'Exposition Philatelique de la Ville de Paris. Whilst the inscription on the stamps states 1944, these were actually issued in 1943 and the Philatelic Exhibition was held at the Musee Galliera, today the Palais Galliera, and ran alongside the 'Air Post Exhibition'. Souvenirs for that side of the Exhibition have been shown previously (and correctly inscribed !!). Beautiful designs on the subject of Music (of course) and beautifully produced by the Gravure Institute.

Reconstruction after WWII in La Havre was celebrated by the Le Havre Philatelic Society with (at least) 2 sheets in 1958. Note the 'reconstruction' cancel in red for March 29th which is also inscribed on the sheets. 1st Day of Issue.

Better images to come. I won these last night at a live auction here in Israel. 9 Colour Proofs from the 1952 Reinatex International Stamp Exhibition held in Monte Carlo.

Londonbus1 Quote There are 3 punched holes at the bottom of each sheet. 2 diamond-shaped and an arc. Alas! my database failed, I queried this, some time ago, and had a response, dashed if I can find, the reply, I thought them to be punched holes for binder mechanisms.
Most French sheets have them
Lovely material there Michael !

rod222.......Ohhh! I don't think I would put these on a binder unless there was some type of protection. But it's possible. Regarding these punch-holes, I have looked around at other sheets online and it appears there was a change of printer or method in or around 1970 so am checking more. I only found punch-holes on sheets with the inscription 'atelier de fabrication des timbre poste Paris' Not being a collector of such items, as those I have seen are for postage stamps, I never paid attention before. These are the first such cinderella items I have seen in de-luxe proofs, albeit not die-sunken. The inscription at bottom right changed around the same year. I have seen the odd one or two without any inscriptions.

In the meantime, here are a few items produced for the 1913 International Stamp Exhibition in Paris. Some of these can be seen in our 2021 Newsletter, Volume 5, Issue 4. The set of 6, below, can also be found Imperforate. They show an image of French President Raymond Poincare (Term-1913-1920). Still trying to find replacements for the faulty stamps !!!! The following items were all produced by the Printex Company of London, who were involved in the production of the 'Ideal' Stamp the previous year at the big International in London. They reproduced those in 4 colours (3 are shown) for this Paris event but very slightly bigger with a different sheet size. They were also only sold Imperforate. The other set, both perf and Imperf have the 'Printex' imprint in the bottom margin and these can be found in 6 colours but with a number of shade varieties, a couple of which are shown here. This Paris Exhibition was held at the Grand Palace from June 21st-June 30th. A Philatelic Congress was arranged to run alongside the Exhibition. The 'Ideal' stamp reprints were at the wishes of a delegation who attended the London Event in 1912 and were so impressed by them. Londonbus1......hey ! They impress me too !!

These have been seen briefly in a mixed lot but I'll show them again now. 1936 Philatelic Exhibition in Nancy. The attractive souvenir stamps show the impressive 'Porte de la Craffe', the original gate to the city and today just a lovely place to visit. The two towers were once a prison !!
