Canada Cover - Sc #53 Three Cents Diamon Jubilee IssueSquared Cancel - St John, N.B. July 14, 1897 to Moncton, N.B.Note: squared circles are probably the most popular Canadian cancel today. As noted on the scans, the Strike is not 100% on a 3 cents Jubilee - but I finally found one on Eb, for less than $5 René

Canada Covers Two more types of cancels for your interest: 1) Fancy cancel on a cover from St John, N.B. 20 sep 1878 (3 cent Small Queen) to Carleton County, N.B. - Circular date stamp
2) Ottawa to Toronto Duplex cancel (19 lines on killer bearing No 1) dated Feb 21, 1891 (3 cent SQ with changeling color)

Another cover of interest (or not) !2 cent Map Stamp cancelled by "Roller" -R. R. Winmill (The evolution of the Imperial Penny Postage and Postal History of the Canadian 1898 Map Stamp) On page 67 of this book, he states: ".....such cancels are rarely applied to first class mail because they are not dated" and.... "Such cancels are particularly uncommon (but definitely not rare) on Map Stamps". You will recognize Victoria, B.C. and the number "2" on this cancel. From his Table, one learns that this cancel was used in Victoria, B.C. during the Period I (1894-1898) Foreign Destination cover to BRESLAU, GER

Canada Post may not be proofreading, but they are testing if this cancel is any indication...
The stamps tied by the cancellation are two from the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games Mascots and Emblems series (Scott No.2305) and the flowers come from the Orchid Flowers Definitive series (Scott No.2244)

I have not put this cancel in this thread but many months ago elsewhere so I will: Ottawa Duplex cancel on Map Stamp. The first Duplex cancels were supplied by Berri of London in 1860. Using WINMILL reference, table of page 59, the Ottawa duplex cancel has 19 thin bars and an enclosed "1" - usage between 1881-1904 It is now in the hands of Jon blaamand as a gift - last time I show it since it is out of my collection and will delete it René

Indeed, very nice René! If I am not mistaken, judging by the two dots on the outside of the top right-hand side of the cabling by the 'E' and the heavy retouching along the upper part of the rope, it is from Plate 3 Position 10. Beautiful & congratulations to the new owner!
