There is this fair/ show coming up this weekend, and I'm very excited about this since it will be my first stamp show attended. There aren't many shows held in my city , maybe once twice a year. And it seems like this is the only one this year in Mumbai. So, my parents have allowed me to go on Saturday 20th April for this. Before that I would like to be prepared with what to do and carry. Since, this is a coin/stamp/ watches show, i asked about how many stamp dealers are coming. I didn't want to waste my trip to find only watches and coins. Got a reply of around 10+ stamp dealers. So that will be great. Anyways, I would like to know whether it will be possible to trade at the show? Have any of you traded at shows? I'm certain there will be many youngsters around, at least there were quite a lot last year I heard. Hoping to meet many collectors especially Indians, I'll also tell them about the forum, since we don't have many Indian collectors here. There will also be an auction unfortunately only coins (I've lost interest in them, but still have some). (I was urged to start this thread by renden )

nikhilThanks for sharing this Event in your City, Mumbai. You realize that with more than 18.41 million population (50% of the population of Canada), this should be a very good opportunity for you to visit the "stamp" portion and meet fellow collectors. I did go on the Website but did not find any information on the "trading" portion (stamps) and since I have no experience in such events, I thought that maybe some ff our "senior members" would give you more of their experience(s) !! Enjoy René

Actually in spite of such big population there's hardly any stamp shows nowadays in our city in spite it being a financial capital of India.
I'm hoping to become member of some societies and clubs, and maybe promote having exhibitions and shows regularly like in the USA and also Canada ------ High hopes maybe😁😁

I have traded many times and also bought and sold and all from visitors like myself. This usually happens around the perimeters of the Hall/s or outside a bit away from the entrance. I have picked up many nice items this way. Of course it might be different in India. When I was there in 1988-89 I was not a collector then so have no experience. But nikhil, just take your time, keep your eyes peeled for what is going on and you will soon know. Whatever happens, enjoy the show and the displays. Even if you come away with no additions to your collections it will still have been worthwhile I am sure. Just enjoy. I am an event fanatic and go to as many as possible when in the UK. Here in Israel there are very few like in India. Happy Collecting Londonbus1

nikhil...did you have a chance to go to the show? How was it? Yes, I did go to the show. There were stamp and coin dealers from all over India, some of whom used to sell on ebay.in which closed down last year. I went on Saturday 20th with a friend of mine who collects coins. When we were there there was an auction going on by Todywalla Auctions , an auction company based in Mumbai. I did carry some Indian duplicates stamps to trade. But one dealer offered to buy them from me which I agreed. There were worldwide stamps but prices were expensive for me. But I did help my friend select to buy some coins. There were exhibits too mainly of coins and banknotes. Overall it was a good experience since its the first show I've attended.
