BEVERLEY HILLS PHILATELIC SOCIETY EXHIBITION, 1937. [Hotel Lasalle, Chicago] This one is believed to be an unsigned Grimsland. If it is or it isn't, one thing is for sure, it is a fine, fine Exhibition piece !!

Those are all just excellent LB1, thanks once again for sharing them. For most of these items, seeing them in your postings will probably be the closest I will get for enjoying them. Thanks also for the link to the Grimsland info/list, added to my bookmarks.

Picked this cover up recently (and promptly forgot about it). A follow up to that little National Philatelic Society label I posted above. This cover sports the exact label, and the owner even had a nice rubber stamp frame for it, with what I assume is his membership number. Plus an interesting monogram (if that's the right word) on the back. (Got to admit I've never heard of a man named Lauren before - I work with a Lauren, and she's certainly no man! - but shows you how little I know)

Sorry James, You are nice bloke and all that, but I am afraid I know less than you, in fact, I know so little, it's mind boggling.
Lauren Male name meaning "From Laurentum" Italy (stolen from wiki)

I've known a few male Lorens... probably just a spelling variant.

Busy week at work, so thought I'd treat myself today, take a long lunch and journey over to see my dealer. Ted always has a little box on his counter full of cindys. Always my first stop. Found this extra large (60x76cm) philatelic label from Maryland 1939 Small tear on right side, but otherwise spotless. Never seen one before.

Based on Jack & other comments on postings getting buried in the latest online acquisitions thread, I have copied my post from there to here. Zipper's post of 2/20 of the 1926 International Philatelic Exhibition inspired me to look around for those and others like them. I really like these type of poster stamps, they are, for the most part, nicely engraved, and seem to be reasonably priced. First, the 1913 exhibition without overprints. These are huge, 40mm X 50mm. Next some 1913 issues with overprints: Now 2 from the 1926 exhibition and an undated 1934 Hobby Collectors Exhibition: Next 2 from the 1934 exhibit, alas one is damaged. Next, 4 from the 1936 show: finally, some miscellaneous items from 1936 & 1947.

A question for those more familiar with cinderella/poster stamps. What reference/catalogue for US issues would anyone recommend? I am aware of a good one for Canadian issues, but in looking around I don't see any that look comprehensive.
thanks, Theron.

Seals are covered, as is US precancel club vignettes (I have the catalogue, but since lost place of it, it is a tiny thing) The rest I believe is up to the individual, and Google.

There is, or should be, a newish catalogue of all USA Exhibition labels and sheets but I need to find the title and author which is hidden in some copies of the CSC journal. I will report back.

I am still looking for the information about a book of USA Exhibition material. It is here somewhere but I have not yet come across it again. Very frustrating.
But it will not be forgotten as I wanted to search for it myself.
Great topic and collecting area.

I'll rest a bit from searching for the book. It will drive me insane !! Here is a post for james....additions to the sheet he posted earlier from the 1939 SPA Convention in Baltimore. There exists also a purple variety and maybe other colours too.

WORLD WIDE PHILATELIC CONVENTION, Book Cadillac Hotel, Detroit, Michigan. October 24-27, 1940. Question: What is more fun than the Circus ? Answer: The Great Gazero !! Correct? I have no idea as I could not find anything that connects 'Gazero' to this event. But these delightful-looking Souvenir sheets connecting the circus and Philately and a great advert and most likely used for pre-publicity purposes. Other labels for this event exist and I will show one or more another time. One can also find a specially produced Air Mail Etiquette by Pennsylvania airlines with accompanying label advertising the Convention details. Sadly, not in my collection [yet].

BALTIMORE PHILATELIC SOCIETY, 5th Annual Exhibition, April 1937. The Baltimore PS reproduced the scarce 1850's Grafflins Despatch local to good effect for this small and attractive Souvenir Sheet. The Society is one of the oldest in the USA and the Exhibition is commonly known as 'Balpex'.
