If I had a choice, Mark... I’d go with the all in one page. But, I would put the info regarding the stamps on the facing page. For me, I’d have the stamps on the left page and the info on the right. But then one needs to be doing double sided printing. If single side, I’d do the same but with info on the next. But with no stamps mounted on the left side if that’s the case, I’d stick but the info on the left side so it is visible when viewing the stamps. I like the idea of double sided printing with the information on one side and the stamps on the other. I don't think there is an easy way to do it with my printer so I'll have to print each page 1 at a time and re-feed the paper manually.

Are your pages being punched for a binder, or are they going into sheet protectors?
If the latter just print individual sheets- the downside to double sided printing is a later caught error or a change means reprinting both

Very easy, piece of cake! Works great!

My DIY Lindner album pages will have to be done old-school! Their pages won't fit my printer, so, it'll have to be done by hand. Hence, little info will be supplied as I am a sloppy writer. The Czech Republic stamps I bought (for a song I might add) from Londonbus1 have will be going in there.

Here's my Sweden King Oscar page with clear stamp mounts instead of hinges. It's my first serious kick at mounts and wow, that's going to take some getting used to. Lots of time spent measuring and cutting. Took way longer than hinging but I'm sure it's a skill that I'll get better at with practice. One question - do you tend to wet the top of the mount, the bottom or the middle? Plenty more options than a hinge. I must say I left more stamps in my stock page than I mounted on the page. I tend to have lots of postmarks and shades. Not sure how to handle them yet. I think I'll leave a vario page in the album for shades and extra copies. Beats me.
PS - I really thought I had the mounts on straight. But the scan shows otherwise. More practice required on that front as well!

Hey madbaker, you do have to be a bit more careful mounting these. I use them for all too. I just dry my mouth out first, then lick the bottom of the mount. Just a bit, you don't need to wet the entire mount. Then place it, adjust it and stick it. I like the clear mounts as well! Good show!
You could place the extra postmarks and shades on the facing page. But then you print back to back, which some people don't like. I use cardstock & I've not had any issue printing both sides.

madbaker My preference is for clear mounts. I suggest you purchase a mount cutter or small paper cutter. Scissors-trimming mounts leaves a lot to be desired if appearance is important. I need flexibility with what and how I collect, often revising a page a few times. To ease wear and tear on the mounts I've tried a couple things: 1. trim a portion of a post-it-note and stick on the back of the mounted stamp. Then a touch of a glue stick on the paper. 2. Similar to above but trim a "hinge" from the sticky part of a PIN and hinge the item to the page. If your collection is ever sold, a buyer will most likely want easy access to the stamp for examination, for better items that is. My 3-cents worth, inflation and all

I use the split back and only moisten/attach the lower portion, which makes sliding into a sheet protector simple (and pull a page out, they are all held flat, so they do not catch.
My preference is black mount and I purposely make the lines of the boxes on my page layouts thicker (0.1") which gives me wiggle room for affixing the mounts. A mount cutter or a paper cutter comes in very handy as the scissor method is hard to replicate over and over. I do but pre-cut mounts, but also have strips whenever I need something that's not "off the shelf".
And, yes you will get the hang of it with practice, and much faster too!

djcmhDon't see that anyone answered it, so regarding your photoshop question of December 4 (better late than never), when you open your pdf in photoshop make sure to open it cropping to Media Box or Art Box. That should crop it to the entire page. If you are opening cropped to Bounding Box, it will crop it to where the actual artwork is on the page, and that may give you distortion when you inport it back to a full page. Also, impressive early Canadian collection. Especially in awe of your Albert and Victoria (SG2 and SG4)

This is what use for trimming mounts - very clear where the cut will be.
Although I no longer cut a strip to hold a like series of stamps, as the strip does wonky things to set of individual stamps. Souvenir sheets, plate blocks etc are fine, but not 6 separate stamps.

Oh dear JeffS, brightonpete. I used a similar Fiskars cutter to what Pete showed! I just need to perfect the technique I guess. First strip I tried to trim the top in one go and things shifted. Second strip I trimmed the top one mount at a time with more consistent results. (I trimmed a 33mm mount to 27mm high.) And I like the 'facing page' idea, even though I don't print double sided. Thanks for that.

renden, I believe I have a cheaper, less stable model of cutter than Pete. Same company and basic design though. Mine might just be more wobbly. Or it's my hands. Or my eyes.

I use a Showgard cutter and in the last example all the mounts would be the same size. For example. a 25x30mm cut mount is very common for what I collect and make them ahead so they are all consistent. The Showgard cutter has markings to help add a proper margin on the cut edge,
I find that when placing a mount, you align the bottom or top of the mount to the stamp box bottom or top (ignore the stamp) since a slightly out of skew stamp can mislead you. Once you pick top or bottom, stay with it on a page. If you place text below the stamp then align mount with bottom and vice versa.
Now, the above depends on how much white space you prefer around mount. On Steiner pages, a black mount will cover the stamp box so if you prefer the box to be visible then you would need a better way. I prefer clear but use black at times.

Someday though I hope to own the real ones, but for now that is just an aspiration.

I can't believe it took me all afternoon to finish making up the Christmas pages. Canada Post made minor sizes changes to some stamps, and I lost the save of this one, but eventually found it. Dang, if it isn't one thing, it's another! I'm glad they are done. But even though the colour almost matches the Staples cardstock, this ain't cardstock. It is flimsy paper. So I just printed on one side, but put two per protector. I didn't check Steiner's sizing either, and one is in a rather large frame. I couldn't be bothered re-doing it for that.
Here is 2018, which gave me so much trouble...
The Flower souvenir sheets album pages for 2020-2021 are ready. I just need to buy the latest one that came out on the 1st of this month. What a way too spend an afternoon.

brightonpete, I'm curious,on your pages, how big is the border beyond each stamp? I like how the mount fits inside the border on your Christmas page.

I use mounts, but I'm a bit OCD about everything on my pages being centered, straight, aligned, etc. So, here's a short explanation of how I manage my mounts. I only use black mounts, and I went with split-back because top-opening mounts allow the stamps to slide around within the mount, and I wanted to keep the stamps centered as much as possible. I use Prinz/Scott exclusively, except for the rare size when Showgard is the only option. If I'm building a page from scratch (rather than inserting a stamp in an already-built page), I place the stamp in a mount strip and get it perfectly positioned on 3 sides, so all I have to do is cut the fourth side. I then mark the point I need to cut so I get identical margins on the left and right. If I'm inserting a mount into an already-built page, I just mark the strip based off the box on the page. For smaller mounts, I use a basic Prinz guillotine. For taller mounts, I use the same Fiskars cutter linked above. My page design uses two boxes, an inner and an outer. The inner is to aid in placing the mount so that it is perfectly centered within the outer box, and the outer box gives a "framed" look that I like. The trick to making the mounts fit perfectly is to build the boxes based off the mount size rather than vice versa. Once I have the mount cut to size, I measure the height and width in mm, and I use that to build the inner box to the exact size of the mount. I have a script that does it for me in InDesign, but that's not really necessary. To attach the mounts, I use Scotch double-sided scrapbooking tape. NOTE -- NOT regular double sided tape -- it's scrapbooking tape that's archival safe. It says permanent on the package, but it's not. I use the 0.5" size, but cut it into thirds. I also attach a tiny piece at the bottom of the mount to keep it flat. It's got a perfect adhesive -- enough to hold, but not so much that you can't remove the mount without damaging it or the page, even years later. The adhesive is light enough that all it takes to remove the mount is a quick slide of the tongs under the edge of the mount. I rebuild my pages pretty often, and it's handy to be able to re-use the mounts (and often the tape). It also allows me to reposition if I don't get the mount straight on the first try. The other real benefit of this approach is that I don't have to try to get the stamp perfectly centered within a mount that's already attached to the page, like one would have to do if attaching the mount in the traditional manner. I can get the stamp perfect within the mount, then just press it down onto the taped page. The end result looks something like this:
