And I've finished the second volume of Canada. 32 pages for stamps, 7 for Cello-Pak panes, 39 pages total covering the years 1937 to 1966. Last part below covers the Cameos and the various commemorative issues of the mid-1960s.
Also have one page "cheat sheet" for identifying flaws, the different OHMS perfins, and the G overprints Now to start thinking about volume 3, and all the crazy varieties that lay with the Centenary and Caricature Definitive Series. Not sure how far I will get before I finally go back to work (if all goes well with Doctor, will be back to work on the night of the 15th). But it's gonna be a daunting task ahead I have a feeling.

djcmh I wish I had your energy! I'm lucky to get a page or two done a week! That was like me too, until I finally switched to Album Easy. I have 14 pages waiting in the wings to be printed. They need proofing first! It doesn't take long!

Wow, patate ! You can do THAT with Affinity Publisher? I never knew! I too look at the off centre borders, but never realized! Too easy that way! One always learns something new every day, or almost every day! That's amazing...

Is the macro recorder part of Affinity Publisher? I know LibreOffice Draw (what I use to make tweaks to Steiner pages) can do all the formatting changes fairly easily manually but have not used the macro feature of LibreOffice. It would be nice to see a video of the macro in action.
If I was starting from scratch today with Steiner, I would consider more options - printing on larger page and changing fonts and borders.

I recently bought a very big (ca. 130 stockbook pages) and cheap Cuba collection ... p.s.: can I post pictures of it as I fill the album with stamps? I don't know the policy here for embargoed stampsPosting pictures of Cuban stamps in your collection will not be an issue.

I haven't investigated a lot, but I think that macro recording is only available in Affinity Designer and not in Affinity Publisher at the moment, so I used a free macro recorder (aptly called... Macro Recorder ) for combining some hotkeys and mouse clicks (for example, a cycle click-> delete -> page down for easily removing the border). I can make a more detailed thread if it can be useful Posting pictures of Cuban stamps in your collection will not be an issue. Thank you! I'll post some of them in an appropriate thread after printing/mounting the stamps.

Ah, patate Affinity Designer, I have that, but haven't quite clicked with it yet. Well, I have made many clicks with the app, but it's not quite there yet for me. An older app, "Graphic" is amazing. I wish they would update it. It has been a few years now. Still works, I may not update to Apple's next major system update.

I recently added quadrilles or grids to AE which will be part of the next release. Grids may be defined to cover the whole or only part of the page, the line colours can be specified. Major lines, i.e thicker grid lines, can be placed every specified number of blocks apart.
Although I don't use AE myself, this is truly great news. After blaamand introduced me to "quadrille" sections some years ago, it has transformed my album pages. Perfect for varieties, expensive or weird stuff you might never get. I also use it for "representative collecting", e.g. there are perhaps 5 stamps in a series with the same variety where I just want to collect a few: I really love that layout. No borders. Why have I not thought on that. I stole that design classicalstamps and it is now standard on my pages. I might go back and redo some old pages I have made with this design.

And here is the first part of Volume 3 - covers 1967-1969. 13 Page inserts - 6 1/2 Vario Pages. One change is with the slightly taller lithographed vertical-orientation stamps introduced with the 1968 Grey Jay Stamp, I have moved to a 5-Row layout starting with the 1968 issues, as the vertical litho stamps will stick above the edge in a 6-row Vario. This section definitely gives a good overview of just how complex the Centennial Definitives can become if you let them

Came across a nice UN Cover that I wanted to create a page for so using Text Maker (Word Processing software) I came up with the below. As I was verifying the link I noticed a typo so tried to correct it with my image processing programming. I made the pen correction on the page itself. It isn't spectacular but I like it.

I spent much of my day playing with layouts, aligning two side printing and then cutting out for double sided viewing.... this tried my patience a few times and if I ever started collecting post cards and envelopes I would need to invest in a mat cutter! One card was given to me (Thank you Rene!) the other I purchased after watching and then being made a "special offer ) Two post cards from the 1937 International Exposition in Paris (I have shown scans of the individual post cards and postmark/stamps elsewhere)- Although I'm more interested in stamp and postmark, I opted to display the cards with the front/pictorial side in the proper orientation, even though it cause on to view the stamped side sideways (6 of 1, half a dozen of the other....)

The cover I bought at London 2022 demands a page to itself . There is no way this could ever appear except on a DIY page Sorry I don't know how to enlarge the image so the handwriting scan of contents at the foot is clearer This is early, within the first decade of European influence, The gentlemen of the London Missionary Society were the firstregular correspondents from Samoa The letter took 8 months to reach London, so probably a year or a year and a half later Mr Macdonald would get a reply !

Have finished layout of page inserts for Canada 1975, first year in Volume 4 of my Canada collection. Back at work full-time so progress will be in fits and starts but gonna keep plugging away at least up to 1994, the last year my father's dealer stock had issues from.

I finally found some yellow cardstock for my Christmas pages. I suppose I had lots of yellow when I started thinking about mounting them separately, hence the colour. I like it, the red & green stands out nicely on it. Here is the 2021 Christmas issue. Souvenir sheet and booklets were issued. The singles are die-cut's from the Quarterly Pack. Unfortunately, I'm not artistic in the least, so I just copied stuff found online.

brightonpete - what a lovely departure from stamps entombed in black mounts and black crypts. I appreciate the time you took to make this personalized with your creativity and not simply your version of the same-ol-same-ol. I found it "bright" Perfectly fitting for the festive holiday.

While I am at it, here's the first page of my Lunar New Year collection.
I was thinking sorting them out with the stamp and die cut (if avbl), souvenir sheet, show souvenir sheet (if avbl) and transitional souvenir sheet (again, if avbl.) But then decided 12 singles on a page for each series would look great. Souvenir sheets after. I don't know if I am going to bother with the show & transitional souvenir sheets, nor the die cuts. This looks good enough as it is. I also lumped them all together with the Flowers and Christmas collections. It would be far too much work trying to fit in 24 sets within the 3rd album. I just collect what I like, leaving the rest for others to bother with. I hope I fixed all the errors! I never bothered with these stamps until last year when Canada Post issued a 12 year-in-one souvenir sheet and an uncut press sheet of 12 souvenir sheets from the previous 12 years. I bought a 20x30 poster frame to hold that very large sheet. The backing of the frame is a somewhat glossy brown. I tried sticking 8-½x11 deep purple pages on it, but ugh... it would look like heck. Then I thought of Bristol board. So I bought the dullest sheet they had, yellow... but it is overpoweringly bright, then I bought a darker green, but at 22"x28", I need to cut & paste, which would also look like heck! I've decided to buy some primer, red and blue paint. Paint it with primer, then mix up the paint to get a nice shade of purple. I think that would look great. I'll post a photo of the result when it gets done. Just don't hold your breath!

What a difference! I had been using Graphic to make up my pages, but measured everything in pixels! Pixels? Why? The Luxembourg annual sets would be a nightmare in Album easy. Some pages have a row of 4 different issues. It is difficult and a hit & miss type of thing with spacing. I like bottom-aligned stamps, which looks off with differing heights of stamps & top-aligned in AE. I changed to measuring in millimetres for these sets. Amazing how much faster that is! I'll still use AE, but with multiple sets on one line, I'll stick with Graphic!
After proofing the page to make sure everything was as correct as it could be, I noticed AFTER printing that there was no info for two of the stamps. Funny how the obvious is so easily missed! I'm all out of this colour paper now. Different green from here on in, or a cream...

What makes the page so difficult in AlbumEasy?
The spacing on a row can be done with "blank" stamp boxes. If I recall you can control the vertical position of the heading above the stamp box for individual stamps.

Between being stumped by a couple of stamps, the loose packet of DDR is now either in the outcasts pile, or the album. Surprisingly few pages were completed, but a lot of holes were filled.
Lunch and a nap cut into my stamp time.
But I just finished the Indo-China ASFEC page. Before anyone says anything - everyone is different and I like what I finally came up with. Although the first line detailing the stamps was missed for editing, but what the heck, I wasn't going to print it out again! I added room for a few earlier stamps with centime's & franc's. Printed on cream coloured paper.
