I have a Harris Canada album that goes up until around 2000....somewhere. I haven’t seen it since we moved a few years ago and, after searching for it over the last several weeks, I have about given up hope of ever finding it. As such, I’ve been looking at various candidates for a replacement on the internet. I would like a little nicer album than the Harris was, though, and prefer a ring binder over a post binder because it will lie flat. I would also like an album that has an available slipcase. After looking at several options, I’m thinking of getting Volume I (1851-1980) and Volume II (1981-2000) of the Canada Wholesale Supply Dominion Album as offered by Arpin Philately. The cost is very affordable (and includes free shipping), it uses a three ring binder, slipcases are available and I like the look and layout of the pages. Does anyone have any experience with these albums? If so, what are your thoughts? Are there any other albums that you would recommend that I may have overlooked? Please don’t recommend Steiner pages. I have the CD and, while I think that they’re great for my general worldwide collection, I prefer illustrated pages for my specialized collections.

Looks like a pretty nice album, although I've never used one.
Does it have to be standard letter size pages (i.e., standard 3-ring binder here in the US)? A lot of the alternatives are on oversized pages. Even the Harris album pages, if I remember correctly, were a good ½-1" taller than letter size.

The CWS website lists the page size as 8.5” x 11”.

Yes, the Dominion Album is standard letter size. Unfortunately, a lot of the other commercially available albums are not -- that's a gimmick they use to make you buy their binders. There are a handful of Canadian album pages, other than Steiner, that are available in standard letter size. I was asking whether that was one of your preferences/requirements, or any page size/binder is OK.

Although I think that I would prefer a bit larger page, I won’t loose any sleep if I end up getting one with 8.5” x 11” pages.

The nicest ones are the Lindner, Davo and Lighthouse albums. These are expensive so what I do sometimes is buy cheap collections at auctions that are stored in these albums. I get the stamps and the album for the price of the stamps. Usually they'll pull the nice stamps out of the collection to sell as single lots anyways.
Or I ask a dealer/Auctionhouse if they have any used ones they don't need. When auction houses sell off nice collections they end up with beautiful empty albums. Try and ask if they'll sell you a set of Canada Lighthouse or Lindner hingeless Canada. A few emails and you might get lucky. I prefer the Lindner 18 ring binders because they lie perfectly flat. The Lighthouse are nice but some older ones don't lie perfectly flat.

My late dad used the Lindner Canada hingeless Albums #1-4 and #1 was the most valuable except maybe for the Seaway Inverted (387a, 1959). It is good to see you back, jimjung ! René

I've always been here but I have been very busy supporting BNAPS as the Pence Cents Study Group newsletter Editor. I have also been working on a project with watermark that will help collectors of Canada with the 5c Beaver stamp of 1859. More info will be given out in a week or so. Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome! This was always the kindest board.

It's what I've used for my Canadian collection since the 80s. I essentially have volume I plus some annual supplements. I especially like the grey in each stamp box, which I think shows off the perfs nicely. They do include separate spaces for tagged stamps (hard to fill for me!). In the volume I have, there aren't any spaces for the provinces of Canada (i.e., the Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, etc.) stamps, which is a bit too bad. I find the album's paper has kept the stamps in prime condition over decades. Hope you find/have found an album to your liking!
