Hi all,
My name is Chris O'Prey, and I live in Suffolk, United Kingdom, although I was born in Belgium and lived in Kenya, Africa for a while in my teens.
I used to collect avidly in my teens, and recently rediscovered the joy! Due to all my travelling, I've developed a varied interest. My main areas of interest are Belgium and British Commonwealth, although I collect anything I find interesting (especially older items or ones from unusual locations).
Like some others I'm currently transcribing my collection from several old and tattered books (stock and simplex) onto Colnect, and re-sorting into new books as I go. I'm loving learning about the history, geography and my old stamps as I go...
Looking forward to talking with you all!
Thanks, Chris
PS - I speak both English and Dutch fluently - happy to help with translations if needed!

Welcome cjoprey ! Nice to see another Brit here. I'm from Essex, just down the road but have been transplanted in Israel for almost 30 years. I get back home whenever I can. Hope you enjoy our 'home' and we look forward to seeing some of your stamps. Happy Collecting, Londonbus1

Thanks tobben63 - I've been avoiding my stock book full of Belgian stamps that I need to catalog on Colnect (and a second book full of swaps) - it's going to be a large job... And I just won a bid on a set of epaulet and medallion stamps to add to it!

Greetings, Chris ( cjoprey), from one Chris to another! I am a US expatriate living in France for the past 16 months or so, but headed to the UK in October. It seems that we have recently been seeing an uptick in membership from the UK as well as from UK expats living abroad. In any event, I look forward to your contributions, and to seeing examples from your collection. It seems that a TSF group gathering is already in the works for 2020 (organized by Londonbus1), so hopefully, a few of us will all have the chance to meet up then. In the meantime, welcome and happy stamping! Kind Regards, Chris ( Beryllium Guy)

They handle a massive range of collectibles including stamps, coins, beer mats and a whole lot more... Have a look at Colnect.

Following up on a comment from Vince ( stanley64) I was reminded I've now been a member of this wonderful forum for a year and two days! I just wanted to say thank you to all who made me feel so welcome, didn't judge my questions, and always backed me up on any discussion. I especially want to thank our fearless leader Steve ( tomiseksj), and his alter-ego Admin, for everything he does to keep this haven alive for us all, as well as our tireless moderators Michael ( Londonbus1) and Chris ( Beryllium Guy). I would like to thank so many of you for asking great questions, providing even better answers, having frank discussions, and generally making life interesting during this unprecedented time we live in! I for one am here daily and would miss it if it wasn't there. I would list you, but I'm sure the easier option is to look here: thestampforum.boards.net/members Finally - here's looking to the next year! As my Irish ancestors would have said; "sláinte" and let's keep on philatelizing! (hey, what's a post without coining a new phrase?!?) P.S. I recently found out that before the term "philately" was coined (from the Greek φιλο-/philo-, meaning "an attraction or affinity for something", and ἀτέλεια/ateleia, meaning "exempt from duties and taxes"), the term used was "timbromania". Seems more apt in some ways...

Wow. How time flies! A little over three years, one Brexit, one COVID-19 outbreak, one Ukrainian war and ONE THOUSAND posts later, I still find myself drawn on a daily basis to this wonderful home-from-home to read about the exploits of my fellow philatelists - many of whom I now call friends. Thank you all for continuing to make this the best place ever! Chris
