Or is it March 26, 1913?, renden? Looking at StampWorld.com, there are a number of colour varieties of the 1p stamp. All look red to me! And with their crazy pricing, all but the last issue from 1921-1926 being penny stamps. Here is my grandiose collection of St. Lucia. King George VI, making his first appearance in 1938. And look at that... StampWorld pricing just now lists it at $65! The watermark number is their own, not Scott's.

Early Saint Lucia stamps, unchecked as yet for watermarks. Printed in Recess by Perkins Bacon (SG#1-3) or De La Rue (SG#5-30). Very nice indeed, Michael, thanks for the post! Someone very wise but unknown to me once said, "Timing is everything." Boy, is that right! Almost unbelievably, I was looking at the St. Lucia threads this past weekend, and then at some of the stamps from the old 19th Century album pages that I acquired from the Aix market stamp dealer, and I thought I would clean up some of the old St. Lucia and be the one to reactivate one of the threads. When I went to do it, lo and behold, you had already done it!! Well done to you, Michael. You have really been making some excellent posts of images of the stamps from that collection you are liquidating. It's impressive, in my opinion. Looking at your images, the stamps look good, but you will certainly want to check them for watermarks. In the first place, be sure that there are watermarks on all of the stamps. When I checked mine, I realized that five of them do not have watermarks at all, when they should. I did some further poking around, and it looks like I have found five forgeries among my holdings now. I will be starting a new thread, hopefully later today, to document my discovery with images. Anyway, I will toast you with my apéritif tonight, for your impeccable style and timing.... Cheers, Michael!

Saint Lucia Early Queen Victoria Issues, 1864Just trying to revive this thread a bit since so many of the previous images have been lost. The quality of these scans is not the greatest. I will try to upgrade both the stamps and the images in the future. These are stamps acquired from the 19th Century collection I purchased at the Aix market in 2018. For these early St. Lucia issues, more than half of what I acquired were forgeries, but these three are genuine examples. All examples shown below are watermarked Crown over CC (Scott Wmk 1). Sc 8, 4-pence yellow, perforated 12-1/2 Sc 11, 1-penny black, perforated 14 Sc 14, 1-shilling red orange, perforated 14

My favorite St. Lucia set is the pictorial set which was issued in 1936. In addition to the 12 basic values, you will find some perforation changes and some coil issues.

Saint Lucia Queen Victoria Revenue Stamps, 1882 Authorized for Postal Fiscal Use from 14th April 1885These stamps are not listed in Scott, so I have used the Gibbons Catalogue for identification. It is a bit surprising, as Scott normally does include revenue stamps which were able to be postally used, as these were. This example is postmarked 20th March 1886, so definitely falls into the period when it was authorized for postal use, and the cancellation also appears to be postal rather than fiscal. I acquired this stamp at the Aix market along with the others previously shown in this thread. SG F16 4-pence Revenue Overprint on 4-pence yellow, perforated 14, watermarked Crown over CA.

Saint Lucia Later Queen Victoria Issues, 1883-1898These stamps were also acquired from the 19th Century album pages that I bought in Aix-en-Provence in 2018. Interestingly, I was able to accurately identify these stamps mainly thanks to their legible postmarks, which made it clear whether they were either Die A or Die B. Sc 27a, 1/2-penny green, Die A Sc 28, 1-penny rose, Die A Sc 29a, 1-penny lilac, Die A Sc 31, 2-1/2 pence ultramarine, Die B Sc 32a, 3-pence lilac & green, Die A Sc 33a, 4-pence brown, Die A Sc 37a, 1-shilling lilac & red, Die A (script cancel is probably revenue use) Excerpted from a Scott Catalogue for reference:

From that scan I would guess the one on the right is genuine.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

The 1936 King George V set is my favourite from Saint Lucia. I have been missing the top 3 values but now I have the 10 shilling. The registered cancel was common in that era with lots of philatelic covers on the market. I suspect this stamp was cut off such a cover. I can live with that because used examples are really hard to find.

A few stamps arrived today to fill some holes including the Saint Lucia 5 shilling George V with the script and multiple crowns watermark. I have been chasing this stamp for a while at a price I was willing to pay. It was nice to fill an album page. Notice I did not say finish because most of these are harder to find used than mint so used copies for some would be an upgrade.

The 1936 King George V pictorial set has always appealed to me so I was glad to finally add the 2’6 and 5 shilling today to complete the basic set. I am still missing the 1 1/2p perforation (coil) variety.
