I used to have a permit and it really was fun being able to cancel my own stamps. But now that I’ve moved I would need to reapply and get new cancel device cut, not sure if I will or not.
Anyways, there are a fair number of MPPs out there. Collecting them all could be a fun challenge.

You mean the big ole Canadian rectangle cancels? Yeah, not exactly very lovely. I always liked the curvy circles on Irish handstamps. They are not used much nowadays. If I get my MPP remade, I might use that style.

Here is a pic of the two different MPPs I used to use, wow, um 13 years ago! The one on the right was a bit fancier, but the date slugs were tricky to use. The one on the left was easier to control and date.

Theresa philatelia - I prefer these an wish Canada Post would go back to its cancels - but......who mails a simple letter today - that explains why they use the "big" square cancel (I hate) - and do not intend to buy my way through Canada Post - my late dad would have and probably did - René////////// and your EIRE stamps are in the mail tomorrow to Florida.....

That would be fun - probably easier in Canada since I do not like their cancellation stamp I don't like that big sloppy rectangle either. Too much ink makes for a messy cancel. When mail from here hits Toronto, it also gets a sprayed on cancel from there! Sheesh, it's already been cancelled. I now ask for hand sorting at the post office. I didn't know I could get that until the past week. Not sure what happens to it in Toronto though. I wonder if I could have my own cancel that I could use. I'd have a steel hammer like the days of yore! That would be something!

My late dad would call Canada Post and inquire in a P (peronnal) cancel......so I shall do that tomorrow at the PO since I have mail for David (Ottawa) and Theresa (Florida) - Pete, brightonpete......I will let you know if possible (or probable <50% of chances) René
