At first I thought this might be Danish West Indies, but the postmark I believe to be Aarhus (in Denmark) and it is the Royal Emblem early issues, but I know little else about this?

Not a stamp. I think it is a cut out of a postal stationery.

Stan ( stainlessb ), for what it's worth, I completely agree with tobben63 on this. I also think it is a postal stationery cut-out. I come across a fair amount of material like this in the large mixed lots of classic material I tend to buy. I have been collecting it all up and will need to figure out who wants it, as for the most part, it doesn't really interest me that much.

Yes here is what it was cut from . A 4 ore envelope for inland postal rate from the 1880s-1900 period Until recent times Denmark allowed the use of the imprint to be cut out and used as a regular stamp to make up postal rates. here is a 3 Ore card with a cut out and a regular 3 ore stamp to make the 10 ore to Vienna Austria

[ADMIN Note: This and the following two posts were moved from the Hungary board.] =so today I'm trying to find where I put a specific group of stamps, and after spending s0-40 minutes I decided I should clean up my desk space... asmazing the things I found.... just not what I was looking for. I did come across a stationary cutout, which at a glance didn't seem tyoo interesting, but the more I looked , the more of a mystery it became.... it looked kind of like early Hungary.... but it was wrong, appearing to be backwards (?) I looked in Scott (as I do not yet have anything specialized for Hungary)...nothing
Then by chance I turned it over....
Still don't know what it is OR if Hungary is correct

The lettering gives it away as Danish. Not familiar otherwise, just too bad it was cut out!

Kgl. (Kongelig) which translates to "Royal". Post = obvious F R M (Frimærke) which translates to "Stamp"

thank you! The image on the revers, think paper and ink bleed, or transfer from another sheet (recto)?

You posted this a year ago and I answered with images of the Stationery envelope . I think it is just printed on thin paper, certainly not transfer set-off from another sheet

Alex- I thought it looked familiar but apparently a year ago I never looked at the back this is what happens when I thoroughly clean my desktop- I found many surprises, but not what I was looking for, but it will eventually show up when I'm no longer looking for it. and thus my 2000th post.. rather anti-climatic
