I'm taking my first stab at topical collecting. I've joined the ATA and gotten 3 checklists to get started. This is all inspired by a couple super nice Frank Godden albums i got very cheap in an auction. What to do with them? They are unused with linen hinged pages and marbled endpapers so making pages will be the old fashioned way. No albumeasy for this one. I've chosen to go with a mix of seahorses, squid, octopus and lobster stamps to start. In most of the threads i see lots of images of marine life stamps but images of album pages are scarce. I've looked at a bunch of competition panels I'd love to see some scans of album pages for inspiration on how I might start to arrange pages. So, if your happy with the way your collection is arranged and don't mind scanning a couple pages, lets see em!

lickemandstickem , you may find some inspiration in the DIY Album Pages thread. The thread has 26 pages of posts and images of the album pages created by members.

This is one of my early attempts with AlbumEasy and it isn't for a topical album but demonstrates one way to lay out a set of stamps.

As shared earlier in other postings, there are plenty of examples of album pages available lickemandstickem. Myself, I would not draw a distinction between album pages or 'competition' panels; they are all album pages created to display and exhibit one's collection. If you are looking for ways to organise the stamps themselves, you might want to consult a text on your chosen topics and look at the table of contents. One can also simply do an Internet search and see how the likes of a Wikipedia have explored the topic with its own outline and content. Again, just some more ideas as you explore your chosen themes... Happy collecting!

Thanks stanley64, These are some good points. I have an art background and am not too daunted by hand lettering and such. You're right, It is more the 'sorting' aspect. Looking at table of contents etc should help.

From 1981 to 1986, Greenland annually issued a single bi-coloured recess-printed stamp featuring fishes. Here they are: Atlantic Cod, Shrimps, Atlantic Salmon, Spotted Wolf-fish, Greenland Halibut, and Capelin. (I know shrimps aren't really fish, but they're part of the series....)

Souvenir sheet issued by the Comoros in 1998, showing a Zanclus canescens specimen. The French name for that fish is "tranchoir", which would translate as "cleaver".
