Has anyone tried to create an album using these pages from the US National Postal Museum. One could have one for a stamp from every old country (more like Big Blue scope).

That looks like a good project. I just downloaded it, maybe I'll start filling it out now.

Well, shoot. A lot of that is do-able. Odd page format, though.

It is in landscape format, as opposed to portrait. I'll see how it goes & maybe convert. Do you know if this the same as the version over on the Smithsonian site?

I think it is kind of weird! It starts off like a kids school project then quickly throws in obscure issues your average collector will probably never find.Kionga Tete. Oltre Giuba
Major countries get only one space if they were stable entities for years eg GB, Netherlands France Norway .......when did GB and Ireland get put in Northern Europe along with Scandinavia and the Baltic? And Cyprus in Western Asia ! Yet Places like Transvaal and Bahrain get 4 allocations , and Samoa has 5. Lots of obscure tiny entities which had stamps for a couple of years eg Hatay . Military occupations but I couldn’t find Memel. GermanOccupation of Belgium but not the reverse occupations of Eupen & Malmedy by the Belgians. No Japanese Malaya or Burma in the millitary occupations section.
Labuan is there but no Sabah . Bosnia but not Kosovo . Under offices abroad German in Morocco but no British Morocco Agencies or Levant though the French ones are included. No sign of the 1920 Plebiscites for Slesvig, and Upper Silesia though I see Allenstein , and Marienveder.
Then why list all those soldier stamps included separate from issuing country., France, Finland and Denmark (they only ever had 2 stamps for goodness sake) .?
Sorry Smithsonian this is a bit of dogs breakfast. It is neither a straight forward one from each country as it says at the beginning , nor indeed is it completely accurate

There's a fellow over on Stamporama who just filled it. He details the 18 month journey here.I have a copy and love the concept, but can't get my head around Landscape printing.

The concept is interesting but you can decide the list of countries and eras using your own criteria. It would be easy enough to create your own pages - whether for a beginner or more experience collector.

Now that is being realistic ! The Smithsonian has obscure places and issues which don’t fit the title, it also channels you into looking for their listings in a hopeless search for completion. I fully agree the idea of self created pages and one’s own criteria makes good sense . I have a smaller and in someways equally unachievable collection running , looking for Number ones of Europe. Some are easy , some are scarce and expensive ( probably out of reach for ever) some are full of forgeries and I tread on dangerous ground.
