Here is an opportunity to post constant varieties from around the world.
I will post one from Canada to start...Below is what is called a "Broken "E" variety. Here is my block with this constant variety top left stamp.
Here is a picture of the constant variety.
Here is a hint to see if you may have this variety or not, BUT cancel may be covering it up as shown below.
Here is the trick to see if a cancel is blocking you from knowing if it is the Broken "E" variety or just another normal stamp. Look for the dot in the "E" of "postage", if it is there, then 100%it is the constant variety.

Note - this is not mine! These varieties are quite pricy in fine quality. The pair above sold for about 4000 USD

Here is a great find on the Newfoundland dog stamps....Scott 56, 57 and 58...Found these back in 2015..You can see them in the new 2020 Unitrade catalouge. and the ""N.S.S.C."" catalouge also.
There is a diagonal scratch on the top left corner of these varieties...Scott 56 and 58 are easier to find....Scott 57 is extremely hard to come across.

If you have a constant variety or a re-entry and want to pin point where it is on a stamp. You could use one of these THIRKELL from the 1960's. Place it over your stamp and use the alphabet and numerical placement of the oddity..E.G. if the oddity is in the middle of the stamp, classify it as say G8, etc. These gauges are still available on EBAY, and very cheap.

Following are some constant varieties from the 1949 UPU issues. The first ones are from Germany (Federal Republic/West Germany), Scott 669. All are from Plate A for the issue (I don't think another plate was produced).
Position 15 - Broken Statue (shown) Position 17 - Diagonal Slash next to 30 (shown) Position 44 - Blue Dot on Forehead of Heinrich von Stephan Positions 46 & 47 - Fleck to the right of "U" in "HAUS" of "STĂ„NDEHAUSBERN"

Italy, Scott 514, issue for the 1949 75th Anniversary of the UPU. There is a constant "broken o" variety on Plate 1 at Position 21. It is also present on the Trieste overprinted issue, Scott 40.

Also for the 1949 UPU anniversary is the 40c blue issue from Switzerland, Scott 324. A plate flaw makes it appear there is a "river in Africa" on Plate A11 at Position 16.

Have you ever been involved with finding one..?? Robert No, Robert, unfortunately when I think I've found a variety of an issue, I find out that some eagle-eyed collectors have beaten me to it and the issues are already known varieties.

Don..Dont get discouraged...The NFLD Scott 56-57-58 on this post took me a couple of months to find and verify before Unitrade accepted it as a new constant variety...Funny no one found it for over 132 years..Keep looking Don.
