I was cruising eBay looking for any FDC's for Ecuador's 1939 issue for the New York World's Fair, and came across this cover. For FDC collecting it's important to have good dates for the first day of issue, and the Michel catalog has July 14th for Mi.#434-46 (Scott #388-93,C80-86). Scott says June 30th. Like this cover, I've seen several from June, so I tend to think Michel is wrong with the date. So I think this is an FDC even though the seller doesn't show it as such. An eBay search on the seller shows they have ANOTHER cover with a stamp of this set that they ARE showing as an FDC.... so they probably came from the same collection. But seeing this cover led me to wonder---- who lived at "The Home of the Postage Stamp"? A google search on the address shows that it is an upscale Art Deco apartment building. A google search on "The Home of the Postage Stamp" turned up another cover.... Anton Huber was a well-known German stamp dealer in the 1930's who must have been sending it to a friend dealer. Incidentally, if you're wondering, I'm not bidding on those two Ecuador FDCs because I hold out for more stamps of a big set. Like this: This one certainly has the look of an FDC! BUT.....the cancellation date seems to be August instead of 30 June. So it's a no-go. (and the seller doesn't identify it as an FDC, not that such a declaration is gospel).

I like your Bluenose stamp! I finally won one like it it at auction in September, to add to my Canada collection. I had been holding out for a long time, for one with XF or better centering.
