Last evening I attended a local stamp auction. Intension was to bay something that I needed, but …….. I ended up with five lots, 4 boxes and one homemade Ireland album, that was a bit more than intended. The cat (Fiona) liked what I had done Here you see the hoarding. This is mostly German stuff. Litle DDR and Federal, mostly Reich and pre 1950. In this box there is mostly Commonwealth. In these two boxes there is a lot of everything and a lot of garbage. I will, if you want update this tread as I work my way trough the shi….. eh boxes. I have seen some rely suprising good stuff, but that will be shown when I get to it.

Wow... tobben63 - if I had to sort that lot I would be there for five years... I sadly just don't have the time I want/need to devote to my stamps... Looking forward to any finds you will have in there. +1 on the giveaway!!!

Today's 'findings' is a letter sent from Bad Reichheinhal 18 nov 1923. Without digging to deep in the history I know this was close to the top of the inflation in German Realm. Letter was sent to Harstad, Norway. I think the name is Johan Freder ( but the family name is maybe something else ) The letter was paid with 27 milliarden mark! If someone know something about these things, I wold love to know.

Hahaha, I recognize that one brightonpete - terrible when that happens! Besides stamps and material, the only stuff I normally always have in my stampcave-locker is a decent pile of those chocolates already shown by tobben63. (The one and only milk chocolate, correction: medicine).

I like the title of this thread and contents.....a mix of X-mas things. So I did not get a "stamp" for X-Mas but a Fender "Acoustic"... stainlessb knows all about this other pastime of mine - I was actually a better musician than a stamper during my teens and got rid of my electric equipment a few months ago......this occupies less space in my stamp room LOL - and pardon my multiple participations (from french) today on TSF

Looks like Christmas has come early to a few.
oh how I love to sort through your “ hoarde” to my partner and was told I would be living on the street if I ever got that much stuff.
Renden, I cannot play a tune . I could listen to you playing while sorting through my hoarde. Of course chocolate of any king would help me in the slow moments.

Fun stuff. Are you finding that some of the special items are notated in any way, or do you have to (get to) do all of the investigating yourself?

I love your mountain of winnings and am totally drooling right now. A couple of years ago I was given what could probably be termed as a stamp accumulation rather than a collection. There was about one large box of material so not as vast as what you have but, coincidentally, this person happened to have been from Germany originally and he also housed many of his stamps and clippings in an Anthon Berg chocolate box.

I do not see how you could deal with all that over the holidays due to the diversity of the material. How much do you plan to actual keep versus finding a new home (resale, trade, etc).
