Finally won an auction lot for this very large series. I haven’t added much to it for quite a while so these are a treat! Venezuela is the only South or Central American country that I collect. I spent six months there in the 1970s - back when they were booming.

I was just going through those states sets and I found one of EVERY airmail issue that I was missing! Still missing many regular issues, but WOW - usually you buy a lot like that and you might find a few, but I was only missing six of the airs and I found ALL six! One was in so so condition, but still, it’s not an empty space. I am tickled pink let me tell ya! Woohoo!

There are some great early Venezuelan, modern stuff I can take or leave, but the American Bank Note issues are fab engravings. And those escuelas are a fun challenge. And the micro Printing! Cool stuff 😉

I haven’t set a cutoff date - but finding postally used Venezuela after 1985 is difficult so it is almost an imposed cutoff!

A very large series of stamps, issued between 1951 and 1953. 24 states or provinces ,with 16 stamps from each state.7 regular issues and 9 airmail issues for a grand total of 384 stamps.Quite a challenging series to complete. Some of the higher values only had a print run of 50,000 stamps and are more difficult to find. These are the coat of arms of Sucre, issued in 1952.

Coat of Arms series from the state of Monagas, issued on 2 February,1953. [/url
I am just missing 34 stamps to complete this series.Hard to find some issues and I will probably have to purchase the full set of 9 or 7 in order to obtain the one or two missing stamps I need. More duplicates....

very attractive - well done. Along a similar vein, back when God and I were both young, Spain did similar very long series covering whatever it is they have in Spain - provinces or states etc - and I remember that one difficult stamp was Cordoba. Anyway very attractive and thanks for posting. I wonder if there's a prize for knowing which country was responsible for the longest series - unfortunately I wouldn't win - I don't know the answer.

Hi Terri One day I told my dealer friend that I was going to do something for myself instead of working. I went through the entire stock of Venezuela picking out what I needed. I stll need a bunch of arms issues but Colombia comes first Jerry B

This is a very challenging set to collect, but that’s part of the fun!
The biggest problem I have with this series is finding undamaged used copies. These were printed on a VERY soft paper that seems to thin even when removing “peelable” hinges. I learned that lesson early on - never try to peel a hinge off a states set single - soak them off. It’s wise to thoroughly check the backs before buying.
And the cancels used during this era aren’t the most beautiful - you have to kiss a fair number of frogs before you find a prince.
FYI - did you know that Venezuela was one of FDR’s favorite collections?

It is an admirable feat to assemble a well-centered and nicely-canceled set such as this
