Sorting through what seems like an endless of envelopes full of stamps with no particular relationship to much else in the envelope. 1938- top Sc #Q210, mid Sc# MQ01m, and bottom Sc#Q209 I'm hoping Q208 is hiding somewhere

not the surcharged winged wheel stamps, but this seemesd a better place to post I purchased a small lot of newspaper stamps as well as a few miscellaneous, including these imperforated TR44, 45 and 47. The perforated stamps are ones I already have and I was comparing as I do not find these in COB, and in truth I purchased expecting these to be forgeries.... which they still may be what do you think?

stainlessb - Nice find! The imperforated are actually listed in COB. See snip-out, listed at the bottom 'Non-denteles' (Only for values from 1 Fr and above). For genuinity? Difficult to say. Note that the catalog only list the values for the used set of 7. I would hang on to them anyway!

Does anyone know the story behind the cancellations? In some instances the rail line is indicated in the lower bar, in others there are two.... what i would almost describe as the isignia from WWI and WWII Germain Luftwaffe, and still others are blank is the top bar city of origin to destination ( or what rail line)? And the date.... is the final digit(s) a time stamp (based on 24 hour clock)... and there's the last one....(??) which completely confounds me It is my understanding the rail line designations in place today are essentially unchanged from their origin. If anyone knows of a map of Belgian rail lines prior to WWI, please let me know- I've not had much luck finding anything but modern with lots of extra information (bus, airports, etc)

cjoprey sure thing! but you might want to give me a week or so to do some reading as there are a lot of variations, including some private lines, which later became publicly owned/operated. At present I have a vague understanding at best. Clear dates seem to be very key to identification as there seems to be some very hard dates where changes were implemented
i see my involvement in US stamps getting farther and farther away

And the last of this series TR6/TR6a 1 Franc, gray and pale gray.... I either have mainly all the same shade, or the distinction is very subtle- you be the judge! Here's a very small portion of a lot of 3 Fr 1902 - 1914 COB # TR44- I purchased a lot of 529 stamps (I haven't counted and I probably won't as that really is a lot!!) as a cancellation study! All are 3 Francs- paid just under $9.00 US including piostage from France! This should keep me busy when I finally get around to it

I did 3 days of re-inventory and special binder of the Belgique Parcel post an Railway (about 260 of them) stamps this week and the 1879-82 series is the only ones I do not have. Our Provincial club even had a ZOOM seminar on their history and postmarks a few days ago. Very nice postmarks, Stan stainlessb - if I remember well you are the one who motivated my interest - Thanks !! Hope to see more...... René

Here's one I hope cjoprey will add some clarity to the cancellation. From the lot I posted a small portion of a couple of post ago in this thread. Enghien N ( I am guess the lone N signifies North?!?) which would be the startrting place. Enghien is located in the Wallonia area of Belgium The date I believe to be August (VIII) 28, 1913.... at 1900 hours (7:00 PM) The bottom Edingen should be where this package/parcel or what ever was being transported by rail. But all I can find on Edingen by Googling, is "see Enghien" was this a local route (perhaps?)

hmmmm, hadn't thought of that- I need to reread the first chapter Railway parcel Post Cancellations by Jones to see if I can find this. Looking at others that have something spelled out in the lower "box" this seems to make sense
Thanks!!

I finally got TR1 - TR6 mounted- missing 2 color shades again always challenging and some of the differences in many of the stamps is very subtle/slight and vert subjective!

I mentioned in my giveaway thread that I have been almost exclusively working on Belgium, initially precancels but when I finished with that I moved on to Railway Parcel Post stamps. I have this nice complete set of the 1941 large, multi-color stamps railway stamps that I picked up several years ago in a Belgium collection I purchased. It is time these were transferred to the Steiner pages I printed recently.

I have also been spending some time on eBay recently and picked up this page of earlier Belgian railway parcel post stamps that will fill in quite a few gaps but still not as many as I would hope.

Taking stamps from my recent purchase, I was able to complete the following Steiner page of Belgian Railway stamps. In this case, the winged wheel series of 1902-14. Only stamps in the best condition are mounted here but I have others with more interesting cancels that will go onto add-on pages I create. These were in not-so-good condition but I didn't want to sacrifice the interesting round and hexagonal cancel. I will have to show these at a different time.

darkormexNice ....I recently got interested in these after winning a collection in the local stamp club,s auction.I notice there are 3 types of cancellations and it appears the round and hexagonal cancels are a little higher in price on Ebay and Delcampe. All the stamps I have are cancelled with the rectangular cancellation. If you scroll up to my Mar 2020 post- this reference goes into great detail regarding cancellations and wasn't all that expensive (as I remember... the was 2 years ago now!!!)
Hexangonal cancellations are Telegraph offices on state lines and were in use from 1879 up to the outbreak of WWI
most 3 lined rectangle (all 4 corners square, and/or the bottom corners angled (chamfered 1908 ->) or slightly rounded) are state line and started in the early 1890's
round (typically from a a Post Office) used up to 1928
oval are not common and typically used by the Private lines, but the Brussels TT and Bruxelles- Brussel use a circular stamp in the 1930's
The Private Lines have an assortment of styles/designs
The book goes into quite a bit of detail (and is in English)

This thread needs a bump! Below COB #TR110 First scan is at my standard scanners ettings, 2nd scan is same stamps with brightness set to lowest setting. The very faded stamp has '110' written on the back. Looking through my BoB stamps to see if I could find another T10 railway cancellation I thought that i had put a stamp into the Vario face down. Sunlight???
