Yup. Not happy!
Bought a lot of stamps that were mint & used. But they were all CTO. Most mint were not MNH as advertised. No recourse to fix this. No way to contact the seller except though their site & no satisfaction. Haven't been back there since.
Oh, also quite expensive to mail from Europe.

Pete
Thanks for the comments. I'm looking at older classic /used issues, but if there's little recourse for shanny deals I'll probably pass
Caveat emptor! (alive and well)

Have used only once and it was an ordeal. Bought different sets of mint and used stamps from one seller. Most of the « mint » had no gum. I expect they had gone through postal system and did not get a cancel. The used sets were of poor quality with thins spots or staining on back. They were not described as such by the seller. Seller never responded to my inquiries. No help from the site at all.
Have never used again.

I have never used it. But have looked at it for the possibility to do a good purchase. Have not found one yet. Then I turned around to see if it was worth selling there. But they have a "book" of terms to read trough before you can sell anything. So I skip it.
Shipping is always listed, so that should not be a surprise. They have a rating system on the sellers, check that. And if you are not satisfied with the item and there is no answer from the seller, give her/him a bad review!
Much the same system as E-bay or Delcampe. You have to check the total cost and the sellers reputation before you bid. The information is there.
From the page:
See number 3
So I will not deem this site down. I will come back and look. As for postage fee I select where to purchase from. And look at the feedback on the seller.

I use it all the time. I just purchased some stamps last week and of course haven't received them yet as they are coming from Europe. I have spent thousands of dollars on that site, and usually do OK. You just have to really look at what you are buying. The descriptions come from the seller, not the site, so you have to use your gut instinct sometimes unfortunately. I just bid low enough that I don't ever get too much money into anything, that I would be disappointed. I only buy the larger lots, that way I know it will come out good, even if the stamps aren't all MNH as stated sometimes. Shipping form Europe is very expensive, especially when you buy albums like I do. The shipping is listed on each lot, so it is no surprise, just figure it into your bidding. Like I said though, you really need to look at each lot carefully before you bid. I try to look at it the first day it opens, so I have time to ask questions if needed. Don't wait till the last minute, because you may not get an answer in time. If you have any questions for me, just ask.

I complained to catawiki, they relayed my complaint to the seller. He said, through catawiki that he'd fix it, but then just disappeared. I complained again to catawiki, but because I was waiting for the seller to fix (I'm patient, he had family problem), catawiki said too much time had passed, case closed. I complained about that, explaining, but they said the case was closed. I had no way of contacting the seller directly, as it was all done on catawiki.
Postage rates were always displayed, so there were no surprises. Just very expensive to mail from most places in Europe.

I would go back to the seller and give a bad critique, and explaining why.

Since this tread started I have browsed trough a lot of catawiki auctions. What I like with it is that there are not a billion stupid postings like those you find on e-bay and delcampe. They have a rule that the contence of the auction should at least have a catalogue value of €50-70. Every listings is evaluated by an 'expert' before it will be listed. Therefore you get lot's that are worth bidding on I think. But it's important to stop in time, I personaly think most of the lot's go to high. But I was able to get a good lot Denmark/Norway witch I have presented small parts of in other treads. It was a rather messy lot with stamps on leaves, stock sheets so it was hard to figure what you got. But I spotted so much good stuff that I did bid on it, it didn't went to hig, and it didn't dissaper me I do also learn from browsing trough the auctions, both prices and philately in general. I tried to send inn a lot to auction it, but it was refused due to the total value and the expected sale price. That's ok, I now know what they want and I will try again. Always look at the postage, some are rather hig and + the 9% auction fee you must calculate when to let it go. I use the automatic bid, set a max price and let the site make the bidding. That way I don't overbid and get carried away in the last minute uncontrolled enthusiasm. Have a look and good bidding

I just bought another lot last week. I bought a Germany Schaubek Hingeless album, and two stock books full of Old German State's stamps. It wasn't cheap but it was a good deal on what I got. I have stay off that site for a while though,. otherwise I will just spend more money. LOL.
