Now that I have retired, I have now more time to spend on my hobby of more than nearly 60 years.
I specialise in Commonwealth countries, inspired from even an early age when I help my Nan clean the commonwealth institute in Oxford when I was 8 years old. Many a stamp salvaged from the waste paper baskets!! which started me off on collecting stamps. Also being the only one in the family with an interest in stamps, I have inherited many stamp collection from my aunts and uncles etc.
I have ended up with quite an extensive world collection, but have concentrated in African commonwealth, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and not forgetting UK. I have an extensive collection of FDC of the UK approx. 6000.
Just started on collating, German Stamps from my many albums , not quite as easy as I though, given the multiplicity of regions and periods before 1945.
Also during my time I have amassed numerous reference books, that prove invaluable along with all the equipment.
With the children long gone I have now turned the large bedroom into a hobbies room, that has enough room to house all the stamps, plus my other obsession collecting vinyl.
Still looking forward to being a member of this forum and using the extensive knowledge amassed over many 10,000 years. Looking forward to tapping in on this font of knowledge

Welcome to TSF, bach26! It's great to have you with us. I am a US expatriate currently living in Oxford. Are you still somewhere in the area? Still in the UK? Just curious, if you don't mind sharing. Although I am a WW classics collector, I must admit that I have a special attraction to British Commonwealth issues, so I really look forward to seeing posts of your favourite material. Enjoy your time with us! Kind Regards, Chris (aka Beryllium Guy)

Welcome! Be careful with that vinyl collection. I once had a hobby room but now it's more of a music storage room; with 1,500+ titles on vinyl and 1,600+ titles on CD I started to run out of room and had to start working on my stamps elsewhere!
