I am looking to purchase a printer for DIY album pages and I am wondering what brand and type others use. Any recommendations would be most welcome whether they be inkjet or laser. I don't necessarily need a wide format printer but I do have Lighthouse albums so this option would be nice.
Thanking all in advance.

I have an HP laser Jet- older but works fine. It is limited to 8-1/2" wide paper. I like laser printers, no ink smear (especially if moistening mounts to apply) nToner cartridges are a bit when you need one, but running low on ink is also a pain.
I only print in B&W
and all printer manufacturers only seem to support operating systems for so long, so there's a bit of planned obsolescence in them (IMHO)

Hello @ erthur . I have just bought a Brother colour laser printer and I can strongly recommend it. No problem printing 160gram (dont know the Engish/american paper weight) on two side. Also a option for printing on envelopes. I did not bay it on amazoon, as I live in Norway, just used the link to show you the printer. Also recommended by the cat (Fiona)

I also recommend a laser printer for long term reliability to avoid dealing with inkjets (clogged heads, expiring ink). Laser toner is inert so no storage issue. I have an ancient Brother monochrome and a HP color laser.

Thanks all for your comments.
My concern though is the pass of the paper through a printer. I always preferred those printers that passed paper directly from back to front rather than being fed from the front and then passing through rollers to be out output in a tray on the front, a rather circuitous route. Is this a concern with any printers, even laser printers?
Also what kind of paper can laser printers use? I intend to use 67# cardstock, can this be handled by laser printers without issue?

I have a Canon AIO that scrolls the paper from the paper tray to the output area immediately above. I have used it for a few years now & have had no issues with it at all. I use cardstock similar to what you want to use, up to 80#. I've never heard of inks expiring. I use the printer a fair bit printing out album pages for the most part. There are a large variety of manufacturers with a plethora of options. I'm sure most these days are sufficient for what you want to use it for. The only option would be how much do you want to spend on it!

My Brother had to leave us as he didn't do a good job, his family had no back up plans and complaining got me nowhere. So I gave up. A better version of my old HP came in and is doing a sound job. I hope my Brother wasn't too disappointed.
Londonbus1......doesn't print his own pages !

My printers work with work with 67# cover with no issues.
My experience with inkjets had been clogged heads and not getting full amount from ink cartridges. I do not use color that often
My HP is rated
52 to 163 g/m² (Uncoated/Matte, recommended), up to 175 g/m² Postcards, 200 g/m² HP Matte; 60 to 163 g/m² (Coated/Glossy, recommended), up to 175 g/m² Postcards, 220 g/m² HP Glossy

Good morning. I bought a "Canon Pixma iX6820 Wireless Business Printer". It prints up to 11" by 17" paper. Cost is $159 from Amazon. I have been printing out Lighthouse pages with it, so it would work for those albums for you also. It is an inkjet, and the ink is sold on Ebay for only $5 for all 5 cartridges. Yes, a complete set of 5 ink cartridges for $5 total price. It uses 2 blacks, a regular black, and photo black. It also uses yellow, red, & blue of course. They are all separate cartridges, so it saves you money on ink. It has been working good so far, and my pages come out perfect. I really like this printer, it is the first "wireless" printer I have owned, and love not having to hook up a cable to print. I bought it specifically to print the Lighthouse pages for my albums.
The paper feeds from the top, the top lid opens, and goes back to about 60 degrees maybe, then the paper comes out the front flat. It hasn't bent my pages up yet.
Good luck finding what you want.
Have a great day.
Mike.

mikeclevenger The Canon Pixma iX6820 Wireless Business Printer would suit my needs quite nicely, I also have Lighthouse albums. A quick search has revealed that it is out of stock online, Canon Canada, Amazon Canada and Staples Canada. The printer seems to be available at Best Buy Canada but a lot of the reviews I've read people are complaining about not having received the product so it may well be out of stock as well.
I will just have to check my local stores to see if it is in stock.

I am using Lighthouse Blank Pages. I am actually just test printing on the back of some pages that used to be a German album someone made. I need to order some new blank pages to print my final album on.
Have a great day.

The left side of the part just looked unusual - large margin, hole punching. How did you do the border?

I have had mine now for over 4 years . I print a lot of colour ..... fliers and posters for our local stamp club . Do lots of photos on it . it has a nice wide carriage and as many of my exhibition pages are double size ( landscape format A3) it has been perfect. ink is a bit more expensive in UK than your 5$ packages but easy to change and it is rare that more than one of the 5 needs changing at the same time.

Hey, I didn't even look at the page that carefully. This is actually a Schaubek page. I have some pages that used to have stamps on one side that I removed, but I am just using them for testing purposes. I have Lighthouse pages I am going to use for the actual final album. The Schaubek pages are just as nice to me, I just want pages that will lay flat and do not damage any of my stamps. I think I am going to use a ring binder with these also, I have ring binders, springback binders, and 2 post binders that I could use, but I haven't actually decided which one I want to use yet. When I get done printing pages, I will just pick the one I like best, I guess.
The border is actually what was in the instructions posted by clivel , back in July of last year on the "Show your DIY album pages" thread. I liked the border, so I just left it how he has it, in the instructions, for Album Easy. I finally figured out how to use Album Easy, just use clivel's instructions as your template, but change the stamps and sizes. LOL.
Here is the border line from Album Easy: ALBUM_PAGES_DECORATIVE_BORDER("Classic.txt"). So, I guess the border is called "Classic". Whatever the name, it looks pretty good on my pages, I think.
I may change the border before I am done, but for now, it looks pretty good to me. I have some Ohio pages I did about 10 years ago that have a special border I made, but I can't find the disc where I saved the border. I have tried to duplicate it, but I just can't get it right. If I do find the disc, that I saved the border on, I will use it.
Have a great day.
Mike.

Thanks Mike, I actually was using Albumeasy this weekend to check all borders but must have missed something when running through the borders test file.
