What I collect: General US, Precancels, Monaco, India Feudatory States, the World!!

Hello and greetings from Texas. I'm relatively new to collecting, having only started a couple of years ago. Although it hasn't been that long, I've managed to fill up a full bookcase, as well as shelves and drawers and...well, you get the picture.
I collect for fun, because I've found, as most of you have, that collecting for profit is way harder than it sounds. The research part of the hobby, for me at least, is the most exciting component of collecting. This is why I decided to sign up for the Stamp Forum, because I'm sure you all know a heck of a lot more than I do.
As most of you probably also do, I currently collect U.S. in general. Within that, I have a pretty large collection of precancels, to the point that I bought the documentation from the precancel society to try and sort out what I had. I'm still working on that. Of course, just like a lot of you as well, I have a large collection of plate blocks, first day of issue envelopes and stamp sheets.
For international, I like collecting India feudatory states, although I don't get that many. I also collect Monaco.
I do have some of the Scott catalogs (U.S., Great Britain, Germany, China, Scandinavia (vols 2, 5, 6), Canada, Mexico, France, Russia, Japan, General Vols A-B & Vol G-I). I have no problem researching info if I have the documents to do it. Just ask.
I'm excited to be included in this forum. I'm now ready to post my first collecting question (Old Germany Perfins).

Welcome to TSF, susiecc! It's great to have you with us. A few hours ago I wrote a better welcome post, but that one evaporated due to a loss of internet connection. So, I will just say that, whatever else I am, I am also a cat lover. I really like your avatar image! In case you want to show us any photos of your "stamp helpers" you can post them here: thestampforum.boards.net/thread/5153/stamp-helpers-past-present-show You will also see some photos there of my stamp helpers, and those of many other members. Anyway, Susie, enjoy your time with us! All the Best, Chris (aka Beryllium Guy)

Hello! I was scrolling through the titles of the recent threads and Hutto caught my eye. I've been through there many times. I sometimes take 79 depending on what hotel I use; more often than not I stay in the Omni Southpark and end up taking 21 until it hits 71 (provides me with not one but TWO Buck-ees stops). I hate driving in Austin with a passion so I pretty much stick to the back roads. I used to try to catch an Express game if I'm in town; that's practically in your back yard, I bet.

I hate driving Austin also. The traffic is worse than Houston and Houston is awful, too. Austin thinks that putting in more toll lanes will alleviate the road congestion. I disagree. I think they need to figure out a way to put a bypass around the city. That would probably help with some of the truck congestion. I say some, because it's going to take more than a bypass to fix the traffic problem.
I've only lived in Texas a couple of years. Lots of interesting stuff to do here, but the heat?...nasty...the allergies?...nastier...Buck-eees?...cool...lol.
Nice to meet you!

I've lived with the pollen clouds my whole life. Makes me miserable. And don't worry about the heat...it's only hot 10 months of the year.
Houston traffic is not so bad. I took a kid to a rehab in Pasadena last week and it was a quick, easy trip. I'm going down to the Revention Center this weekend for a Whiskey Myers concert and expect the drive to be easy. Austin just has too many people in a much smaller area.

Oh yes...the pollen clouds. they say it's starting to clear up for now, but my eyes are still matty. Supposedly, Houston traffic is not as bad as Austin. Ok, maybe, but a while ago, I flew in from Denver and then drove to relatives. It took me longer to get to their house than the flight in. Yes, Austin never planned for so much growth. Whiskey Myers, huh? Sounds like fun.
